This world has its own language, a vernacular of the streets, the swamps, and the university halls. These are the terms every page in this library leans on. World-specific vocabulary, like Greek Row’s Vine, lives in each world’s own book.
Boosts · The world’s living reaction to your recent story, and the accelerant on your growth. Two show on your Story HUD: the Presence Boost (the large circle), reflecting your overall investment in the world, and your Activity Boost (the large bars, called Heat in Hathian, Spirit in the Backwaters, Thrill on campus), reflecting the impact of your recent roleplay in your current community. Covered in Reading Your Boosts.
Chapters · The universal measure of your story’s length. Chapters accumulate across all communities and are the prerequisite for advancing to higher Roles. Where a hard Chapter minimum guards a major feature, this guide states it plainly.
Character Card · Your character’s public identity, worn above your head in-world. It displays your current Title, and clicking it is where you set your character’s details: name, age, appearance, and crucially the desires and notes the Narrator reads when it writes for you.
Character Dashboard · Your private, web-based command post, reached from your HUD: your full Card history, your Pathways, and the deep reflection of your Inner Anarchy.
The Companions · The persistent characters who live here full time. They remember your actions, form relationships, hold grudges, and have their own agendas, in the flesh or as unseen voices over the radio. Earning their trust opens information and storylines nothing else will.
Encounters · The world starting a scene for you: a narrative invitation written in response to the community’s actions and your character’s own psyche. Each community has its own flavors, like the Dark Encounters of the Backwaters.
Influence · The current that carries you between Chapters. It grows from the quality, emotional depth, and connection of your roleplay, as the Narrator reads it.
Inner Anarchy · The private mirror on your Dashboard, seen by you alone. It reflects who your character is becoming as a Soul Signature: an archetype and a color the Narrator reads from how you play and where you belong. Distinct from your Character Card, the public face others read.
Legacy Player · A term of honor for veterans who migrated from Story HUD 3. Their history is preserved and their dedication recognized from the first day.
Legacy Role · The highest Role you have ever held in a Pathway. The world remembers your peak, and you can never be demoted below it; if your standing slips, the world helps you climb back to where you belong.
Lock Path · A Card feature giving you control over your public identity: choose and display any Title you have earned, even while your current actions walk a different road. The tool for characters who wear a mask.
Soul Signature · The read at the heart of Inner Anarchy: your character’s nature rendered as an archetype (Ravager, Tyrant, Ghost, Martyr, or the still-unread Drifter) and a color. Private to you.
The Narrator and Your Writing · This world’s silent partner in storytelling. It reads the craft, emotion, and connection in your roleplay and turns them into your character’s growth. It also writes your daily Card excerpt, speaks through the Companions, and sends the world’s Encounters your way.
Pathways · Thematic progression roads unique to each community. Your active Pathway answers the question: who is your character right now?
Roles and Titles · The named stages along a Pathway (‘Felon’, ‘Sophomore’, ‘Stalker’). Your current Role is the Title the world sees on your Character Card.
