Getting Started

Student Guide

Enroll for the education. Stay for the bad decisions.

Life on Campus

Columtreal is where your character stops being an idea and starts being a person. You show up for the lectures and stay for everything else: the parties, the rivalries, the late-night trouble, the friends you have not met yet. This is one corner of a living, gritty urban universe built by people who take stories seriously, and campus is the easiest way in. You do not need a major or a plan. You need to enroll and walk through the door.

  1. Apply for Membership: Read the guidelines, then submit your application for CU student status.
  2. Receive Your Invite: Approved students get the “CU Looter” title and the keys to the campus groups.
  3. Register Each Quarter: Visit Admissions to enroll for the Fall, Winter, Spring, or Summer term.
  4. Start as a Freshman: Begin where everyone begins, with your whole story ahead of you.

Be Anyone

Your character is yours to invent with no ceiling on it. The overachiever hiding a mess, the burnout with a secret, the transfer nobody can place, the one who came here running from something. Build them however you like and let the campus change them. The whole point of this world is the freedom to be someone, and the room to become someone else.

Something Is Always Happening

Campus runs on a full calendar in both directions: real academics to grow into, and a social scene that never quite settles. Classes and workshops during the day, parties spilling into the Row at night, rush weeks, game nights, study groups that turn into something else entirely. The schedule is alive, which means there is always a scene to walk into and always someone new to meet. You are never short of a reason to log in.

A World That Pays Attention

Columtreal runs on the Story HUD, and it is built to notice you. The more of your character’s story you live, the more the campus responds, and the more it gives back. You do not grind here. You live, and the world keeps up.

  • Campus Life: The hours you spend on campus and in its venues become part of your story.
  • The Classroom: Sitting in on classes and living the academic year carries your character forward.
  • The Law: Every citation, arrest, and run-in with a cop leaves a mark the city remembers.
  • The Hospital: A night in the ER is not a setback. It is a storyline.
  • The Work: A job at one of the official businesses gives your character somewhere to be, and a career to grow.

Grow Into the Community

Your character climbs from freshman toward alumni over time, and the climb is earned the way everything here is earned, by showing up and taking part. There is no shortcut, and that is the point. The rank is a record of a story your character actually lived, and living it is how you find your people and your place in the world.

  • Freshman: Where every new student begins.
  • Sophomore: Earned by living the campus and its coursework.
  • Junior: The reward for staying in the story.
  • Senior: Standing that comes from a real run at university life.
  • Alumni: Graduation. The far end of a long arc, and proof your character went the distance.

Going to Class

Class is not homework. It is a room full of people and a reason to be among them, and joining one is as simple as walking in while it is live.

  • Walk Right In: When a class is running in one of the campus rooms, just take a seat.
  • The Room Performs: An instructor leads, and the room dresses itself for whatever is being taught.
  • Being Seen: Every class you attend builds your standing as someone who shows up, and the campus notices names.
  • Pop Quizzes: An instructor may spring a question mid-session. It will not be trivia. It will be a scene.
  • Check the Calendar: Scheduled classes and workshops are posted on the community website.

The City Is Right There

Campus is not the whole world. It is the on-ramp to it. Columtreal sits at the edge of Hathian, and the same gritty universe stretches out past the Row into the city and the bayou beyond, full of characters you have not met and stories you have not started. Your student status is a passport: intern at a questionable business, pick up a shift somewhere sketchy, follow a rivalry off campus and see where it goes. The more of the world you touch, the more people you meet, and the bigger your character’s story gets. This is the ultimate creative collective, and campus is where you join it.

How to Play a Student

  • Live the Student Life: Pick a major, or don’t. Study hard, or fake it better. What matters is how your character grows, not their GPA.
  • Build a Reputation: Make friends, enemies, rivals, lovers. Stir drama in a lecture, at a party, in a shady study group. Every connection fuels your arc.
  • Embrace the Mess: Bomb a test. Cheat on a paper. Crack under pressure. College is messy, so lean into the chaos and let it change your character.
  • Join the Scene: Rush a house. Start a cult. Launch a book club that becomes a fight club. Clubs and events are fuel for your next storyline.
  • Make It Yours: The longer you stay, the more this world becomes one you can put down roots in, with a place to call your own and a name people know.
