The Neighborhoods

Hathian 3 min read Updated Sep 2026

Hathian is not one place. It is a string of neighborhoods, each with its own mood, its own dangers, and its own reasons to walk through it after dark. Knowing the city means knowing which blocks feel different under your feet, and where the trouble changes flavor.

Hathian

The core. Grit bleeds through every cracked sidewalk. Cops and criminals fight for the same streets, and neither side has ever won cleanly. This is where you will find the police headquarters, the pawn shops, the diners where deals get made over bad coffee, and the alleys where those deals fall apart. If Hathian has a center, it is here, and it is not safe.

District 8

The city within the city. District 8 is Hathian’s downtown sprawl, the closest thing to civilization the town has managed, and it is still not very civilized. The hospital sits here, and the fire department, and a park that has seen its share of things a park should not see. This is where the institutions live, for whatever the institutions are worth.

Devils Pocket

Dry, lawless, and unapologetic. Devils Pocket wraps around a towering brick power plant and does not pretend to be anything other than what it is: the part of town where the rules thin out and nobody comes looking unless they mean it. The hidden lots behind the plant have held more scenes than anyone wants to count.

Vodou

Once a youth school, now an urban graveyard stretching east of the city center. Vodou is the part of Hathian that time forgot and nobody reclaimed. The abandoned camp, the eastside lots, the buildings that stopped being buildings years ago. Walk through here and you will understand why the neighborhood got its name, not from anything mystical, but from the feeling that something is watching you and has been for a while.

Rougarou

A foggy stretch of raised homes and shipping docks near Hathian’s edge, where the city starts giving way to the water. The docks bring in whatever the docks bring in, and the raised houses belong to people who have learned to live where the ground is not always reliable. Rougarou is quieter than the center, which around here only means the trouble is slower and harder to see coming.

Batterie

The beach that hides danger behind its summer glow. Batterie looks like the one place in Hathian where you might catch a break, with the boardwalk and the water and the light, and that is exactly the trick. What happens at Batterie happens because people let their guard down, and the beach has a long memory for the things that follow.

Delphine

Swamp air drifts through Delphine, the transition zone between the city and the deep Backwaters. Houseboat docks line the water, and the people who live here are the ones who chose to be between two worlds rather than inside either one. Delphine is where Hathian ends and something older begins, and the border is not marked because nobody who lives here needs it to be.

The faction pages on the website carry the live map of who holds what ground, block by block, updated as the city changes hands. For the first time, you can read the state of the war from anywhere, see where the open ground is, and watch the paint dim when a crew stops showing up.

Every district has its own businesses, its own regulars, and its own stories. The full list of what is open and staffed lives on the live business index. The map is here so you know what you are walking into before you walk.
