When a Greek house throws a party, the whole campus can see it: the house lights up, a beacon rises over the roof, and the invitation is that you noticed. Nobody at Columtreal waits for a card in an envelope. A lit house is an open door, and walking toward the light is a complete social strategy.
Finding a live house
A live house announces itself. The lights come up, the beacon rises over the roof, and the party stays visible for as long as it breathes. There is no list to be on and no door policy that matters more than arriving; if you can see it, you are invited.
Scene hooks
Everyone who has ever roleplayed knows the cruelest moment in the hobby: standing at the edge of a crowded room with no reason to talk to anyone. Columtreal’s parties refuse to let that moment exist. Touch the party’s centerpiece and it does not tell you to mingle; it hands you a scene already in motion. A drink just went down your back and someone is watching to see what you do. A stranger pressed a folded note into your hand and walked off. You arrive mid-story, every time, and your first line is already loaded.
The Vine at parties
The party knows what is being said about it while it is still happening. Ask, and it will lean close and repeat the Vine’s current line on tonight, which means you can walk in already knowing what the room is whispering. Use that however your character would. And remember the exchange runs both ways: what happens at a Greek house does not stay there. The morning board has ended more situationships than winter break. And a note for faculty who consider attendance beneath them: a professor at a house party is the board’s favorite genre, and it has never once been discreet about it.
Hosting and house status
A party is how a house performs its status. The lights, the crowd, the stories that outlive the night: these are the currency of Greek Row, and the houses that throw memorable ones become the houses people scheme to get into. If you belong to a house, a party is your stage. If you do not, it is your audition, whether you meant it to be or not.
The practical instruction fits in one line: see a light over a house, walk toward it. The campus has already handled everything except what you do when you get there, and what you do when you get there is the entire point of Columtreal.
