You do not need a schedule, a major, or a plan. When a class is live anywhere on campus, the whole university knows, and walking into that room is enough. The campus marks you present, the professor gets a fuller room, and your character’s reputation as someone who shows up starts building from the first chair you take.
This is the student side of the lectern. Faculty, your half is covered in Holding Class.
The classroom and the chalkboard
Every classroom at Columtreal dresses itself for the subject being taught. Walk in and the course posting is already up, the chalkboard has filled its margins with notes on today’s topic, and the room carries the atmosphere of whatever the professor brought to it. None of it is decoration for its own sake; it is material. A margin note on the chalkboard is a line your character can react to, argue with, or copy down wrong on purpose.
Attendance and the Dean’s List
When you take your seat and check in, the campus records that you were there, and your standing grows for it. The campus board outside shows the room filling in real time, which means every class you attend is also a small public act: people see the count climb, and people notice names. The Dean’s List on that same board celebrates the students the campus has seen the most of lately. It is not a grade. It is a spotlight, and it moves.
Pop exams
Some professors like to spring an exam mid-lecture. When it happens, do not expect trivia. The question will be a situation, the kind that has no answer key: a teammate down mid-play with the coach watching, a choice with the whole room waiting on you. Your answer is written in character, and the performance is what gets judged. The best exam answers at Columtreal have started rivalries, confessions, and at least one engagement.
The Vine in the classroom
Fair warning, offered with love: when the campus marks you present, it sometimes leans in and mentions what it has been hearing about you lately. If your weekend made the rounds, your attendance record may come with commentary. There is exactly one way to avoid this, and nobody at Columtreal has ever chosen a quiet life on purpose.
Ready to sit in on something? Watch for the campus-wide announcement when chalk hits a board anywhere on campus. It comes with a way to the room. The rest is showing up, which around here has always been most of the story.
