Please read through the proposal and give feedback! The Hoppers have been a CD faction previously under a different leader.

The Hoppers
By simpkin Resident

TYPE: family

MEMBERS: slowlywerot Resident, darkangel2.sweetwater

BACKGROUND: The Hoppers as a family has been a known staple of Crack Den for quite a few years. Some people might not know who the Hoppers are but most people have at least heard tales of them. Their family has been around lurking in the swamps of Louisiana for generations before deciding to step out into the public light for their own entertainment. The Hoppers have been a faction before before being sundered by family drama after becoming too large. There is still a sizable number of Hoppers left and the number is increasing when needed though the family prefers quality over quantity when it comes to membership. They can be found in every city and town of Crack Den supplying roleplay to as many as they can. Hoppers come in two distinct sorts, blood Hoppers who are all related and those they adopt into the clan after testing their affinity to join the family. There is no distinction between the two, the family is not all that much into organization besides following the words of Grandpa Hopper (NPC) who trusts Lucas to be fearful enough of Grandpa's walking stick to speak to the family as leader without shaming the good Hopper name. Honor is of utmost important to the family, for without honor, one might as well be dinner on the table rather than the diner. A Hopper's first loyalty is to family, blood and adopted alike with severe punishment for dishonoring the family. Degenerates, freaks, outcasts, criminals and similar words have been used to describe the Hoppers whose family legends claim have a curse upon their blood to make them act as they do, it could be the inbreeding as the swamps are not a very populace place. They are not exactly criminals as much as they are ignorant of laws and customs while being extremely antigovernment. And the rumors of them being cannibals, who would believe such a thing!

UNIQUE: The Hoppers as a family are not one of wealth and possessions beyond having a rich family heritage. They do not pay taxes and generally do not keep jobs, they prefer to catch their food, if they shop, they do not believe in giving that which they do not value so would hardly be expected to pay cash for it. They are not all ignorant of the value of money, those adopted into the family and some of the family that have moved out into the world before the others understand you need some money to exist with the culture around them so they can be found either doing odd jobs such as selling meat from a cart on the side of the road to peddling enhancements which some might consider drugs but are totally all natural products as no Hopper has a chemistry degree.

FLAW: Being a Hopper is a flaw all unto itself. Our blood is cursed, or so it is believed by the family, which is why they adopt outsiders by sharing their blood in hopes of diluting the curse while making their family stronger, in misery there is comfort? Every Hopper is touched in some way, physically, mentally, or socially, it is not hard to pick them out of a line up. They are prone to the more primal emotions, violence, lust, hunger, thirst, or the need to papier mache although that last one could just be Lucas, so they might get in over their heads due to their desires and emotions. Another flaw others might find that Hoppers do not consider a flaw is their sense of honor. An oath made is an oath kept and some might find a way to exact an oath from a Hopper to bind them to a cause.

POTENTIAL ENEMY: The Hoppers are a family, they are not a gang, they are not really a cult though one might think of them as such with the way they recruit. The Hoppers are not competing with any gangs for territory but as they believe wherever they plant their feet is home, they might be seen as an invasive group. Every gang, citizen, or business is seen as prey to the Hoppers in one form or another so interaction with the family is almost guaranteed although Hoppers will not be overly hostile with any particular group except for the police as they are government folk and not to be trusted as the Hoppers have learned throughout history. In essence, we see things in black and white, you are either a Hopper or one of the rabbits to be culled which means we are bringing our attention and our roleplay stories to everyone regardless of their position in the sim, new or old, gang, cop, or civilian.

EXPERIENCE: I was one of the founding members of the Hopper family from the beginning and helped to lead the family in the background during its first faction run lending advice to Ain Hopper as lead at that time while helping to create the backstory and the 'meat' of the Hopper family.

IDEAS: The Hoppers do not discriminate against anyone in roleplay. Our first concern is to promote roleplay for others rather than seek our own selfish desires. We do not desire to be the strongest or most populated faction but rather want to be the faction that promotes the most roleplay for others. When approached for membership, we do take a look at how the player fits into our family as not everyone should be a Hopper, and we try to take only those that are willing to put forth the effort to promote not just the family but the Sim as a whole. If you are new to the sim and have never heard of the Hoppers, we are very quick to make sure that does not stay like that long as we will approach for roleplay while communicating with each player that although the Hoppers are based on horror themes, we try to remain flexible and do not insist on the dark rp if it is not wanted. If you are wishing to join the Hoppers, we will see how well you fit as one of us as most people in Crack Den seem to have a little Hopper in them so we are very approachable.

OTHER: The Hoppers are a family, they are not a gang, they are not really a cult though one might think of them as such with the way they recruit.
