Our community's commitment to quality storytelling has made us a top choice for those role-playing in medical, fire rescue, and police departments. The last time major updates happened was almost seven years ago!

Today, I’m thrilled to share our vision for the future as we look to expand realism and connect characters in ways we couldn't before with the power of generative AI in new player features, updating gear, and reimagining group structures. The plan is to elevate immersion like never before.

Watch out for our phased releases over the next month and we’re excited to have YOU be part of this evolution!

Phase 1 – Updating Ranks and Groups

From law enforcement, fire rescue, to medical role-play, we have a variety of groups now that offer many opportunities to create stories and to rank up. A full audit is underway to better promote and restructure each group.

  • Hathian Police Department
  • Fire Department of Hathian
  • Hathian General Hospital
  • Columtreal Campus Police
  • Backwaters Sheriffs
  • Backwaters Rescue
  • Backwaters Prison
  • Laveau Clinic
  • Hathian Civil Services

The first major group to roll out the changes will be the Hathian Police Department, with the addition of a Major, Captain, and Senior Officer role. Effective immediately, the following changes have been made to the leadership team:

  • Krystal will move into the role of Major, helping admins manage the operations of the largest active and most complex municipal group
  • Julian will lead the day-to-day narrative as Captain, helping steer the department in its heinous nature.

Phase 2 – All new Field HUD, for Fire Rescue & Police groups

A new universal Field HUD will help take municipal role-play to much deeper immersion and collaboration! Using generative AI capability and automation with both Second Life and Discord bots, I’m excited to introduce the following:

Fire Rescue Reporting & Investigation

“One HUD to rule them all!” After years of promises, Fire Rescue will be getting incident and investigative reporting capabilities! The HUD will also collaborate with other groups like medical and civil services groups in-world. From investigating arsons, reporting incidents, to connecting lawyers and social workers to victims, we’re hoping to spark more organic ways to connect players together.

The HUD will automatically switch its design and function based on the department they are in.

Ask the Narrator (AI)

Get even more realistic in your role-play as a police officer, medical, or fire rescue! Players will have the ability to simply input their scene scenarios into their HUD to quickly get hints and knowledge on how to properly use:

  • Police & Rescue Codes
  • Treatments
  • Checking Guides

The Dispatcher (AI)

This all new NPC will use group chat and object communication to help relay your calls for backup, checking priors on suspects, and much more! With access to the character criminal database we’ve been building over the past decade and the opportunity to connect stories, this NPC will have a life of “her” own and communicate with characters in natural language.

With bot automation we’re rolling out with both Discord and Second Life Group messaging/notices, the Dispatcher will help better facilitate messaging that will reach a broader audience, both on and off sim.

Phase 3 – All new Uniforms, Vehicle liveries, and Gear!

Working with talented creators on the Grid, we’ll be introducing custom uniforms and gear for each group, including refreshed liveries (skins) for municipal vehicles. I’m currently working with a few designers and should hopefully have vendors out in the next few weeks!

In Summary…

As we conduct audits and roll out new capabilities, we’re looking for all of you to provide feedback and be a part of the change that is coming. We’re also looking to fill the ranks of various groups that never had structure before as these new features begin to roll out in the next few weeks.

Please reach out if you have questions or ideas!
