================== Lady Luck Casino By bytethedust Resident
BACKGROUND: How Driscoll fits in: Driscoll has training in how to run a restaurant, and a drive to prove himself to the people closest to him. He was recently approached by a friend to discuss taking over the running of Lady Luck to bring further success (and profit) to the dockside area of Port Laveau. Having been assured that running a casino and running a restaurant are very similar in the grand scheme of things, except for the service provided, and that he will be given all the assistance he needs from his friends, he's confident that he can make this new venture work. He's always been a hard worker; he got his first job when he was 15 years old, and managed to juggle work and school successfully. He spent a few years away at culinary school, which was where he learned about how to run a successful business, before returning to Hathian and, soon after, settling down in Laveau. In the month or so he's been in Laveau, he's made a name for himself as someone willing to help out and who isn't afraid to get stuck in to get a job done. He spends most of his time in the area and wants to see it thrive. Events: As a casino, it would make sense to run events like poker nights or maybe even tournaments. I would also like to collaborate with other local business leads to come up with ideas for events that involve more than just one business. New employees: I would like to meet with all new employees where possible to conduct interviews if that's what they want to do, get to know them and help them settle in.
UNIQUE: The casino is one of the few businesses in Laveau that would see large amounts of money coming in and out on a regular basis. This would make it the perfect place for people to conduct larger, likely shady, deals. The casino is described as a hub for illicit activity, and I'd love to see what I can do to keep up that reputation, including money laundering and maybe handling large loans for those around town needing finance for ventures that would certainly not be approved by any reputable bank.
EXPERIENCE: On another character (Calum Buchanan), I was the lead of Seaside School in Vodou for a few years, starting back in March 2019. When I see a chance to improve something, I try to do something about it, which was how that character came into existence in the first place; I'd noticed a lack of things going on at Seaside so created him as a teacher, never expecting that he would end up as the Principal. While the lead for the school, I ensured there were regular events at the school for the youths on sim, ran PTA meetings for the parents, and liaised with other business leads to try to set up more opportunities for the players. I also worked on a few quality of life things, like preparing report cards for those who had attended classes (and giving the option for those who couldn't make it to have them written as well) so that they could spark some RP from that with their families, and always made it clear that I was just an IM away for players wanting help to further their stories.
IDEAS: I'm very active on sim and I love trying to engage with new players. It can sometimes be hard for new players to get involved with things, especially if they're nervous. When I see someone new who seems to be uncertain about joining in, I usually shoot them an IM to let them know they're welcome. I don't turn down walk-up RP from people, For new employees, as previously mentioned, I'd like to try to set aside time to do interviews and other things, or just reach out to those I see new on the roster to see if there's anything I can do to help them out.
OTHER: I think an evening of high-class entertainment would fit well for a re-opening event for the casino. It would be an opportunity to collaborate with other businesses in Laveau as well, like sourcing drinks from Barracudas/Flamingos, food from the bait shop/Midnight Mandarin, sweet treats from Rusty Brown's, and girls from the Serpent's Den. And what's a fancy evening without music? I would love to get in touch with local musicians to let them showcase their talents. |
