It has been observed that some officers are calling FNH-303s (the NG/EA 202 NL Launcher) "rifles". A rifle is a firearm. THE FNH-303 is NOT a firearm. It is a NL Launcher based on Airgun/paintball technology. It does not use Gun Powder or a primer. Nor does it have a Rifled barrel. It also does not fire bullets- it fires fin stabilized projectiles containing a number of different agents IRL. ISL we use the following:
A) Training/Impact (clear) — non-toxic glycol base with no additives, used for training and when the impact sting is the preferred deterrent.
B) Permanent paint (yellow) — latex-based polymer paint used to mark suspects for later identification.
C)Oleoresin capsicum (orange) — glycol base mixed with 10% OC (pepper spray) at 5 million SHU, used to incapacitate targets.
