Something I realized today is that there is a sort of backwards culture around Tops in CD.  Call me a shit stirrer, but I'm just curious to see what other's thoughts and opinions are on this.

No other type of play is forced to turn around and roleplay an opposite scene; however, Tops are expected to turn into bottoms after nearly every scene they do and then people wonder why they don't stick around.

People aren't forced to do a straight scene after a gay scene...people aren't forced to go rape someone after getting the beating/rape they've wanted...so why do Tops need to expect to be beaten after each scene they perform?

If they don't "submit" to this roleplay (which goes against the very nature that bottoms enjoy) then they are ridiculed and told they don't play fair.  So far, I have avoided this by always just subjecting my character to the payback because it's expected, but I've never enjoyed it.

I think fair play is that both the top and bottom are getting something they enjoyed from the experience.   In real life people get away with things all the time...why, in CD, do we force this culture on our Tops?  And then wonder why they never stick around?

I don't think it's usually the bottoms/submissive players that are complaining if the top declines a pay back, it's their friends who want to be the "badass" and make the person pay for what they did.  How about we just proclaim our hatred for each other and leave each other alone since none of us enjoy taking a beating?  I'm not a masochist...I'm not going to enjoy that roleplay.

Is there any way to fix this culture?  Am I the only one that thinks this way?
