Tatiana "Tati" Velinov was born into one of the most affluent families in North America. Her father made his money by helping other people get rich, and he was damn good at it. Her mother died when Tati was very young. Her father never really talked about her. All Tati knows is her mother was of Asian descent and absolutely beautiful. Her death was apparently very hard on her father, and he distanced himself from Tati. She had her mother's eyes. It was too painful for him to look at Tati.

As Tati grew up, her father became more and more aware of just how beautiful she really was. She lost herself in Hathian in the hopes of being able to make it on her own, but soon came to the realization she had no skills other than the ones her father taught her.
