Shaumae Wylder, worked hard to get through college. She took advantage of various scholarships, grants and financial aids to claw her way out of government subsidized housing (the ghetto.) Her family was not well off at all. Gunfire was a common sound on a friday night. She excelled in school, and worked hard to find a better life for herself.

Graduating college with honors, she was quickly accepted to law school, with a full scholarship and fellowship. A poster child for what hard work can do to work your way up in the world the old fashioned way. Hard work. The long hours of college and stress was aided by the recreational use of cocaine in order to study through the night. This recreational use has become her secret addiction.

Graduating law school with honors, she wanted to give back to the community, working a lot with the urban league. Excelling in Criminal Law, she worked as a public defender, to stand up for the little guy. After successfully defending pimps, murderers, rapists, drug dealers, she has grown a bit sick with herself. The public defender job, not living up to the idealistic Perry Mason/Matlock view of the criminal justice system where the accused were most often innocent. Her minor cocaine addiction grew stronger during this period as a way to cope with the guilt she feels.

Now, she feels her intelligence and knowledge of criminal law would better be served as a prosecuting attorney, where she can still try to weed out the innocents and put true criminals behind bars.

This is tempered by her addiction of course, which she swears she is in control of, and no one is aware of, despite a select few friends. She will do her civic duty to make the city better for the average person in an area full of corruption and poverty. Unfortunately her addiction may cause problems if the word gets out. She will have to work hard to prevent people from knowing this.
