Raiza is 30 years of age.

Raiza considers herself to be principled, kind, extremely loyal, beautiful, and utterly imperious. She is also, canny enough to assume naivety and manipulation. Raiza has conflicting memories of her past, a past that she'd like to forget and a past that she simply, can not escape.

After four years at Princeton University, promiscuous relations, one serious relationship, shameful events with friends from the University, Raiza moved away and found a job as an undercover police officer. As an undercover agent, she was assigned to immerse herself in a drug underworld - Hathian. Suddenly, she found herself re-untited with a co-ed, and unfortunately, the ex of that one serious relationship - Brody Macbain, and living arrangements inside a suburban tract house in a poor neighborhood. - the Devil's Pocket.

Raiza is confronted with the news that both room - mates are heavy drug users and pass their time having long drug- inspired conversations. While posing as a drug user, Raiza, herself, becomes addicted to a very powerful psychoactive drug which causes a dreamy state of intoxication and bizarre hallucinations; chronic users may develop a split personality, cognitive problems, and severe paranoia. Because of her promiscous and flirty personality, her need for money to pay for her addiction, she becomes a prostitute. Police are unaware of her " other " occupation and Raiza apparently develops cognitive problems from her addiction which stop the two hemispheres of her brain from communicating with each other, and as a result, she is receiving two sets of information that are in conflict. Her life becomes a conflict. Raiza is no longer able to distinguish between her roles as a drug user, a prostitute, and an undercover police officer which make her incapable of performing her job as the undercover agent.
