I've been pining for a slightly skill based, player driven economy, roleplay system for gods now how long. One of the major lacking features with many SL RP Sims is a way for players to truly interact with their environment. I'm not saying like, buildings and vehicles, but actual banks with a monetary system, stores that actually sell props/goods, and truly player affected roleplay.

Sure, roleplay is and should be ultimately decided by the player, but tools also should be there to help them. This both in a way prevents people pulling stuff out of their ass, and also allows for unique player-to-player and player-to-environment interactions. I'm not saying we should limit a player's choices and interactions to in-house gear only, but we should offer the player that choice to use such things.

So here's my idea, and one i've been working on with a Star Wars RP sim, though with a more crafting oriented basis.

We have quite a few RP based business such as mechanic workshop, Gein Burger, the record shop, Daily Grind and such, but we merely RP we are getting said items, and there is no literal physical interpretation of these transactions. This of course, would need some sort of currency system that isn;t linden, and, contrary to popular belief, is NOT that hard to program/make. If we use the K.I.S.S. belief, then it's very possible. We would use physical currency, with a bank and ATM and such that would dispense said currency and all that.

This allows for unique roleplay, such as money laundering, counterfeiting, actual robbery and muggings, and such. Money is power, but in a setting without money, power is arbitrary and faint. We'd have prim dollars made in such a way as to prevent prim-copying, as it'd be transfer only.

Now, what i'm proposing, and very willing to help create and head, is to make physical in-world props/goods for said players to use the aforementioned monetary system to interact with others and businesses. So, we could have a Cell Phone shack like Cricket or Cell-To-Go, and sell cellphones, minute cards, chargers, and such, even set up contracts. I have a script that allows players to set a channel (phone number) for a communicator/cell phone, and all the other player has to do is set theirs to it to talk to them. I know IM's sorta are that, but this is a more interesting way.

Gein burger can give out actual food like burgers, drinks, fries, and salads and meals for money. Have sales/deals and such like the real world. The record shop can sell actual Records, CD's, Music Paraphenalia and such. Daily Grind could offer donuts, cups of coffee, etc that could even have die scripts in them set on a timer, so they vanish from a players inventory after some time, creating demand for goods and services.

We could also introduce an ID system of sorts, allowing players to apply for Identification, where the player fills out the required stuff like any other state issued ID, and it be a physical prim that players can hand to people that ask. This would also increase chances for fake ID's, expired ID's and such, and increase player-to-player interaction.

All these props would be simple/detailed objects that are No Mod/No Copy/Transfer. This way, players can give this stuff to each other, trade, buy and sell. Now like some people, like managers, would obviously have No Mod/Copy/Trans versions of this stuff. We of course, would have to make strict rules as to no selling of these items for Linden, and anyone who does would face whatever punishment you deemed necessary.

Now this would also allow for say people search dumpsters or boxes or break into a warehouse and raid it, they could get said items course their would need to be a kill script line in the giver script, and a resetter perhaps after some time.

Now, I am a decent builder. Many may have seen my backpack, or Peri's new satchel, I made those, and you cans ee the detail. If not, IM me for an LM to my store, and you can see my creations. I am very willing to build said props for a very low commission fee, or free, hell, I don;t care, as long as I get due credit for the work, but money helps!

I know it's a rather basic idea, and may be a bit jumbled, but it would definitely increase player-to-player and player-to-environment interactions and increase the amount of unique roleplaying opportunities available to everyone. This way we could perhaps lower the common presence of combat some, but still offer illegal RP.

Now, these are just ideas and in no way am I demanding it, but Crack Den seems like a ripe place for such an idea, and one that would be very beneficial and fitting to it's setting. If anyone would like to contribute, expand, or offer similar ideas, please do so, I love to hear creativity!
