Okay, so just to throw the proverbial cat amongst the pigeons, I'm bringing the murder issue up.

There's about to be a demonstration by the students of Columtreal on sunday - 2pm about the lack of *visible* police action to deal with the murders. As well as of course the issue of wrongful arrest and police brutality of one of the students.

This post isn't to attack the HPD. I think you guys do a good job, and walk a fine line of keeping officers in line, a lot of noobs inline as well as dealing with the general hostility in the city.

I've seen two officers dealing with the murder on the campus, thanks to Fae and Durham Jr. As the campus is pretty much my jurisdiction I will concentrate on that crime and offer a few suggestions as to how the murderer might be brought to justice... or at least the police be seen to be taking action (which is what most of us want to see regardless IC and OOC - it seems such a waste of RP opportunities to not leap on a murder and run with it as far as we can).

1. Who is the *named* officer in charge of investigating the murders?
2. Who are his/her subordinates?
3. Who is responsible for collating evidence and posting it on the forums for ALL the police to see and be aware of. Officers might be passing this murderer every day without even realising if they dont know who or what they are looking for.
4. The campus is a fairly closed community. Little is missed by the students and staff there. They know each other. They know who likes who and who doesn't like who. Please please please question all you can.
5. An organised interrogation. I can help here, get students together for a mass DNA swab (if HPD money can stretch that far). At least, students can be questioned, leads made and then followed, people can be ELIMINATED. If the murderer is so difficult to find, elimination could be key here.
6. My character suggested two leads to follow - false leads I know, but surely there is some duty in investigting false leads.
7. Finally, can I suggest that in a police investigation, detectives have the overall control say and push, but the Officers on the street do the donkey work, the questioning of witnesses. Perhaps open up another post for witness reports and notecards with the general officers with leads and witness statements. Even a few lines might open up chances.
8. RP RP RP! Tis all I can say, and don't just RP yourselves, get those lower than you involved - please 🙂
9. EDIT. Oh another thought. How about asking Rent-a-cops to assist. One of their officers spoke to Izzy at length about her thoughts on the murder. (Black Hotaling incidentally)

I hope people can take these suggestions in the spirit with which they are given; to encourage RP, to encourage interaction and to get people involved.

Love to all involved,

Izzy / Misti
