All systems are a go 🙂

Guns will officially be unbanned January 25th 2012, but until then, players may check to see if they are eligible and apply if so. During this time, players may also send inquiries on why they aren't eligible to [email protected]. Inquiries sent via IM or notecard will not be responded to ( I am expecting a lot of questions). Please, keep in mind for the future that this will be the ONLY time that questions regarding eligibly will be allowed. After February 25th, what you can do to improve your chances will no longer be released (and even now It wont be specific). The reason behind this is, I simply don't want people gaming the system and I don't have the time to go through so many individuals on a constant basis. Guns are to be earned by fair role-play (staying in jail, going to the hospital when injured, accepting consequences, etc).

Regular citizens may apply and purchase sim approved guns from the 24hr Pawn Shop (Application launcher is on the wall and prim gun vendors are set up). HPD Officers may apply and purchase from the back of the locker room at the precinct. We encourage you to RP getting your gun out for the sake of realism. No other businesses or gangs will be able to ICly sell in order to keep new players from thinking they can freely use them.

Now here are some facts that I think will answer many of the questions that I have seem floating around:

  • Rookie officers will never be eligible for a gun unless their character meets the regular CD Armed Citizens criteria. HPD Officers only qualify if they meet a RECENT activity quota - that means if you have just come back from a hiatus… RP around for 2-3 weeks and you will become eligible. Cops will be the majority of gun holders initially - we have no issue with that since, citizens should be more wary of cops in the first place.
  • Older players do not get to bypass the system. I know this seems unfair, but if I allow it, then I have to come up with where to draw the line. There is ONE exception to this rule and that is if you are a RP Leader (those who run businesses_, GM or admin and ONLY if your stats are close enough. Even leaders and GMs need to prove they are willing to RP things out fully and be involved in stories throughout the sim.
  • I will allow players to have up to TWO alternate accounts if one account is approved for the CD Armed Citizens tag. That means, three accounts total. All you have to do is email [email protected] with the alternate accounts and the approved account. This is obviously on an honor system, so if we find out by any means someone is lying, we'll perm-ban all accounts.
  • This system is not geared towards criminals. Please, realize that though one of the stats used is 'criminal points' it is only a small variable and it doesn't just count arrests. It also doesn't mean your character is a criminal, even though it leads to the criminal tag. We simply just have to classify it somehow. It counts citations, jail time and incident reports as well. While many of you are more than capable of RPing with guns, its important to us to set the bar so that the sim is not flooded with them. For this reason, it is overall activity that makes people eligible. If you're a criminal, try spending time in jail or going to the hospital even if its for check up. Stop getting treated at home all the time, we are discouraging NPCing. If you're not a criminal, try doing things that will get you citations (public drunkenness, illegal parking, carrying a weapon out in the open, etc)
  • Many of you will not qualify, we set the criteria to hover just above where are most rounded players stats are. This means you likely just need to make a visit to the HGH, report an incident,, do some jail time or get in trouble a couple more times.
  • ANY complaints about guns should be documented and given to a RP Mod, GM or Admin in the form of a notecard.

Here is the guide: http://live.thecrackden.com/guns
ALL players should at least skim through it so they know how guns are to be played out in the Den. Those interested in obtaining the right to use a gun should go through it thoroughly before applying.

Feel free to ask any questions you have here, just keep in mind, the point system will not be revealed and the any suggestion will only be applied after we see how things currently go. Thanks!
