[ Sheets of paper found stuck in a thick, tattered leather bound journal, all the pages of the actual journal are blank. On the inside of the front cover is the following inscription, difficult to read: "To my daughter, Greenlee. Everyone needs inspiration. You're mine. Love you, Dad."
Following the inscription is a quote in the same hand writing: "Listen to the mustn'ts, child. Listen to the don'ts. Listen to the shouldn'ts, the impossibles, the won'ts. Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me... Anything can happen, child. Anything can be.” (Shel Silverstein) ]

((first entry is a just to catch up on the status of Green's law license issues))

He always said I should write, he always encouraged me even when all I could write was my name, or his, with a broken orange crayon. Well, I'm writing now. Whether it's to him, or myself, or someone else, I don't know. I just know I need that outlet he always talked about, especially now.

Work has been insane. Managing the diner has gone from just kinda being something to do to pass the time to full time work, with long hours and even longer nights. I have to put in a lot of hours not only doing the managerial stuff, but I've had to take a lot of shifts too. There are only a few employees who actually ever bother to show up, but those that do show, work their asses off. I can't thank them enough. The good thing about working there is I've been getting to improve my cooking skills. I remember the last foster home I was in, the Castravano's. Julie and Joe Castravano were the best foster parents of all the places I lived….after....; the only ones who treated me like I was a real part of their family, not like the damaged goods I was…and am. They are real old school Italian, and Grandma Rose, she could cook anything and I swear she never used a measuring cup or a recipe. She taught me how to cook, and I've been using some of her recipes at the diner, and its bringing back some of the few good memories I have of home.

But with the good comes the bad. Over memorial day weekend I went to see Julie and Joe, and well things didn't go so well. Mike's partner found out I was in town--I had been able to stay under the radar every other time I'd been home, but I screwed up. I went to pick up a file at the old office and I saw him with some other cops. By the look he gave me, I knew that he would come after me, and he did. He came to the hotel room and…well I won't go into details but it was bad. He said I would get what I deserved and well he is definitely proving that. He found out I was in Hathian, and made trouble with the Louisiana State Bar, trying to get my law license taken away. He told them I lied to them on the registration forms, by not disclosing what happened. But I didn't actually lie, I just didn’t well, tell them. I didn’t think I had to since the charges were dropped and I was cleared! But now they've opened an investigation and I'm waiting to hear the results. I don't know, maybe it's a blessing in disguise. I wasn't really enjoying the practice anyways of late--too much stress, not enough clients who can actually pay, and just a general pain in the ass. Maybe I should step back and let Toby take more of the cases. He seems capable enough. I hope.
