bluebell noelsaidThis is not really a proposal, the Vipers are already an approved third tier gang. After many creative and eventful years, Brandie is going to hand the leadership of the Vipers to Annika. Fortunately we will not lose Brandie, but the Vipers will again evolve, change is to be expected. Vipers TYPE: MEMBERS: Annika Jaxxon, amai batista BACKGROUND: The Vipers have a long and storied history in Hathian and owe their longevity and success to their ability to evolve, adapt, and thrive in the turbulent world of chaos and crime. Starting years ago as the Kogarashi street gang, the organization has grown and changed with the talents and interests of those on the inside who cement their bonds as chosen Family. This past summer, the Family chose to shed the skin of its past. Most saw only a new tag and heard a new name, but beneath the surface, there was a redefining and affirmation of values and a renewed commitment to one another. They define themselves by their loyalty to the Family, to entrepreneurialism, secrecy, and ruthlessness. They are relentless in their pursuit of profit, power, and prosperity, and like their namesakes, the Vipers' business dealings slither mostly silently through the city until they choose to reveal their fangs. Annika joined the group because it was composed of those she came to rely on and whom she adopted as her chosen family. Her upbringing in the world of Russian organized crime and international arms trading unwittingly prepared her to lead the weapons and ordinance arm of business operations. Drugs were the other major arm that others handled in the gang and lesser revenue streams included a variety of commodities they dealt in as opportunities present themselves. The gang's significant transportation network is the grease on the tracks of profitability and they take great care to protect it. The Vipers function more like an organized crime family than a street gang, with a focus on profit through all sorts of business ventures. Racketeering, money laundering, and the chasing, wooing, and seizing every opportunity for profit mean that Vipers are open to working with all kinds of individuals and businesses. Their current business deals are varied and wide-ranging. The larger scale business operations are both supplemented and supported with the day to day business of enforcing agreements, collecting payment, and ensuring their hegemony remains intact to secure their profits. The Family's main business operations have been in guns/ordinance and drugs, but they maintain smaller operations in just about anything they could make turn a profit so there is broad potential to evolve in ways that are RP-based, lively, and organic. The Vipers' ability to quietly adapt and evolve will be evident once again with changes to their turf and legal business front, shedding its former skin as it moves from Shadowside to Sugar Row in the coming weeks, and finding a new nest for its nefarious activities in the backroom of the Berthier St. Bakery. The Family values having active businesses where laws are mere technicalities dividing legal and illegal transactions. With the Bakery near the landing, this could bring a lot more traffic and who doesn't like donuts? This change will spur new opportunities for collaborative storytelling whether its as Family, friend, or foe... or the vast grey area between of "associates." UNIQUE: The Vipers function more like an organized crime family than a street gang, with a focus on profit through all sorts of business ventures. The Family's main business operations have been in guns/ordinance and drugs, but they maintain smaller operations in just about anything they could make turn a profit so there is broad potential to evolve in ways that are RP-based, lively, and organic. FLAW: The scale of their operations and their willingness to negotiate deals can be risky business, leaving them open to outside perfidy and subterfuge. Sometimes, it's the snake that gets bit! POTENTIAL ENEMY: The Vipers have had and currently have a wide range of business agreements with other factions, businesses, and individuals for both one-time transactions and ongoing arrangements. Any successful business operation is subject to those who would take those profits for themselves, and enemies are born when business decisions mean unfortunate outcomes for others. Being ruthless in its pursuit of profit and power is a dangerous dance of shifting alliances and limited agreements. EXPERIENCE:I've been in the Vipers about two years now and in the past seven months played a big role in the rebranding as well as backing up Brandie as a captain for day-to-day stuff, and leading events through the summer and fall including a long story arc with the HPD. In my 2+ years in CD, I have worked at the Pawn Shop and served as the assistant manager of that business. This has included a lot of paperwork, people work, and helping with events. Prior to coming to CD, I had served as admins and mods in a variety of RP sims since 2006, some I have co-owned or owned myself. Murphy will be our second in charge. She has been in CD since 2008, has been an active member of the Vipers for 2 years, and is a Mentor on the sim. Brandie will remain with the Family as our number three, consigliere, mistress of torture and mayhem, and mother of donuts. IDEAS:The Vipers' ability to quietly adapt and evolve will be evident once again with changes to their turf and legal business front, shedding its former skin as it moves from Shadowside to Sugar Row in the coming weeks, and finding a new nest for its nefarious activities in the backroom of the Berthier St. Bakery.
