The following are new group policies I'm establishing around creating groups and having them affiliated with CD. A lot of existing official groups are going to get a major overhaul. Any group that's run by players (basically not held by me or one of our bots) will need to be proposed officially, otherwise, will not be recognized in the new setup.
There are essentially two types of groups that players can propose to establish in CD: gangs or businesses.
Thanks for being patient w/ me on this; it required a lot of brainstorming to establish policies and developing the proper foundation to scale our community in the most manageable way possible.
Please review the policies below and comment. I'm looking for anything that might need more clarification before I publish the final copy.
GANG POLICIES
- How to Establish Your Gang
- To create a gang, you must read the policies below in detail before proposing it through the web-based Group Proposal & Registration Portal
- You may not organize or create your gang without explicit approval from Nadir Taov.
- You must have at least four founding members, who are registered citizens, before proposing your gang.
- Gang Leadership
- Gang leader and founding members must be in good standing with community management (ie. no drama, no security issues, etc.).
- The original individual who proposes a gang is considered the leader. Every time leadership changes, a new proposal with a new gang name (may simply be a a slight variation of the existing name) is required. Leadership that's passed over without the consent of community management will not be recognized.
- Gang leader must collaborate with other leaders and community management on a regular basis. Having fun and creating new opportunities and stories, for both new and current members, is the primary goal.
- Gang leaders must be active users of the forums.
- Gang Structure
- Gangs should have a clear ranking structure in place for the 8 active members and any affiliated characters.
- Each gang member is encouraged to maintain their character name along with a street alias.
- Gang leaders should develop hand signs, graffiti tags, slogans, or any other kind of communication method to help represent the gang on the street.
- Gang Membership
- There may only be 8 active members of a gang at any given time.
- Gang leaders must maintain their active 8 members on the official online roster system which will be assigned to them when their gang is approved. Inactive members are allowed to remain in the gang's in-world group, but must not have access to the gang's group title in-world.
- Other players affiliated to a gang, such as low-level informants and runners, may join the in-world group, but must not have the gang's group title in-world. The purpose of the in-world group is simply for internal organization and communication.
- If a player who belongs in a gang is banned from the community, the group leader must also eject that player from their group. Failure to do so will result in immediate disqualification of the gang.
- Gang Turf
- Each gang will be assigned turf in the city.
- Turfs are certain blocks of the city and their assignments will be listed publicly.
- When active gang members encroach on another gang's turf, the more time they spend RP'ing in that area, the weaker the encroached gang's street influence statistic becomes.
- There may be neutral pockets of turf available on the city; the more time members of a gang spend in those areas, they may be automatically rewarded that extra turf zone.
- Gang "Street Influence" Stat
- All gangs will be assigned a basic statistic which represents its members' activity. Every player has their own "street cred” stat which accrues through time spent in the RP area on a regular basis, time spent in jail, and the history built between police and the hospital. All these factor towards building up the reputation of a gang.
- It is absolutely important for gang leaders to maintain their roster of active members; if members marked active are not RP'ing on the sim on a regular basis, he/she would be dead-weight to the gang and will bring down its street influence.
- To keep fresh ideas flowing, gangs with a low "street influence” stat will be disqualified and disbanded.
- In-World Group Creation
- Group name and the single title allowed must be approved by Nadir Taov.
- Group title may only be worn by the 8 active members allowed per gang.
BUSINESS POLICIES
- How to Establish Your Business (in-character)
- To establish a business, you must read the policies below in detail before proposing it through the web-based Group Proposal & Registration Portal
- Business Leadership
- Business leader/manager/owner must be in good standing with community management (ie. no drama, no security issues, etc.).
- The original individual who proposes a business is considered the manager/owner.
- To better promote your business, it's highly recommended you get active on the forums.
- Business Location Requirement
- To run a registered business, you must have a physical location on the Crack Den Estate, which includes land or renting a front. A SLURL to location is required.
- If you can not afford rent, you can use the online newspaper to promote your in-character services.
- Business' Staff/Membership
- If a player who belongs to a business' group is banned from the community, the group leader must also eject that player from their group. Failure to do so will result in immediate disqualification of the business.
- In-World Group Creation
- Group name and the single title allowed must be approved by Nadir Taov.
