Role

We've restructured some of the groups and roles. I'm just going to list them:

Student Applicant >> Enrolled Student / Freshman [Tuition/FA] >> Soph >> Jr >> Senior >> Alumni
Faculty >> Instructor >> Professor >> Tenured
Nurse
Guard
Librarian

All "first tier" roles are part of the "CU RP" group and may be attained during initial application or contact Geoffrey Welders if you're already in the group. Faculty members have the "CU Faculty" group to keep track of their career rank and communicate. The "CU Student Body" group will continue to remain for enrolled students and class ranks.

Leadership

The role of "Advisor" is now being reserved for IC/OOC leadership. The role is set up in the CU Student Body group and will give both faculty and students who will serve in leadership roles the ability to send notices to student body (must be cleared by GM before sent out) and promote people between Freshman >> Senior ranks. They are also important liaison to the community and will help students organize events, etc.

This role is by appointment only; we'll be moving over current active leaders into it this week. Please contact Geoffrey Welders if you run an organization. We'll also have high ranking faculty as well.

Promoting Greek / Campus Organizations

We've seen some turnover on leaders in the past month or so; how do we keep track? Well, we're going to try a new setup; there will be a set number of advertisement rental boards on campus (still figuring out best location) where those who are running organizations can pay and rent. Payment will be minimal (we'll work something out with current orgs) -- it'll be a small monthly donation towards running the sim. Your own poster texture and note can be put into them so that students who may be interested can click and receive information on how to join.

More importantly, what this does is allow us to control the number of organizations and make it transparent as to who's active or not. If a current leader leaves, someone from within the group can take over, or the rental simply expires and becomes available for someone else to start a group.

I'm still juggling with the idea and open for feedback.

Holding Events on Campus

We'd like to get more parties, dances, events on-campus. I looked at the campus and prime areas to hold events can be in the Student Union, parking lot (can setup stages), football field, gym, and open field on the side of campus. From mixers to whatever, I think there's plenty space available to run these events on campus.

Advisors will also have access to the online campus calendar (the one here on the forum) to post organization events.

New Approach to Classes

In the past, we've had a hard time tracking faculty and having them show up to their assigned classes; too many missed classes.

Instead of full courses which require weeks of commitment, we're going to break down classes by "workshops" and "lab" class sessions... meaning, when a class is scheduled, it will be for a particular topic for a very limited number of sessions (1-3). We all prefer a more "hands on" way of teaching things too, right? 😉

Our new faculty lounge in the administration building is actually quite functional ... if you click on the board there, it will take you directly to the calendar to schedule a session. We recommend doing it 3-5 days in advance of the class date so there's enough people that know about it. To learn how to use the calendar, just click the microwave which is also clearly labeled to receive a note and instructions.

Access to calendars will also be available throughout campus so students can simply click to see what class or campus events are happening.

Even if faculty specialize in a particular subject, they will break it down into topics, teach them by sessions, and can call them labs. We'll see if we can get some policemen, fireman, doctors, and whoever from the city to come in and teach workshops as well! All of these sessions should be based on topics that are interactive with students, applicable to hathian life, and generally fun for both instructor and student!

Transportation

Next week, i'll be deploying functional bus stops, including one or two on campus, which will allow people to move across sims and back IC/OOC fairly quickly 🙂
