Carnevale Obscura

A traveling carnival sets up on the edge of town. Just for the weekend. No ads. No permits anyone can track down. Just flashing lights, blaring music, and a stream of costumed performers ready to entertain.
To the public, it’s a strange but harmless distraction, a maze of fire-breathers, freak shows, cheap prizes, and overpriced snacks. But that’s just the surface.
Behind the tents and painted smiles is a well-organized black market operation.
The Carnival is a cover; a mobile hub for smugglers, traffickers, organ dealers, and fixers. It slips from city to city under the radar, running high-risk trades, scoping out new marks, and disappearing before anyone can put the pieces together. Locals might vanish. Property goes missing. Illegal trades change hands in the shadows — weapons, narcotics, stolen identities, organs, people. Nothing is off-limits, so long as the price is right.
The workers aren’t just performers. They’re runners, thieves, and hunters. Some draw crowds. Some draw blood. Some offer deals no one should take.
And when the Carnival leaves, it takes more than it came with.
