The Devouring

BACKGROUND: In all of us there lives Darkness. It whispers to the worst side of who we are and demands to be released. Most decide to ignore its voice, to live a constrained and dull existence. Not all. In the alleys of this rotten city some heard the whispers and welcomed it. They chose to accept the demons within. To learn of them, to live with them, to feed their howling demands. They come from varied backgrounds and preferred lifestyles. They thirst for power, for greed, for pleasure of the flesh or for violence. An encounter with them will always leave you guessing to its outcome. Will their devouring demons be unleashed? Will they try to find the darkness within you? Or will their inane love of chaos bring an unexpected twist to your day? The Devouring is closer to a cult than a gang with members that have been drawn closer through months of RP. They share the same disillusions and beliefs that they are quickly spreading to others.

The group does not have ranks, functioning on an acknowledgement of each one’s demons and a bond akin to family. Their goals are simple: revealing the existence of demons to all and helping each other feed their deviant needs. As a result their actions could be many depending on what they desire: violence, terror, whoring, dominance, kidnapping, gluttony…

UNIQUE: The Devouring do not run a business even if one of our members owns the Pawn shop (Emmy). Through months of roleplay we have established a relationship with the store itself, either with robberies or pickpocketing so Emmy might sell the goods. That being said the Pawn shop is not a base. Members of the Devouring have their own havens to escape to and though they welcome other members to theirs, they also never overstay their welcome. You are more likely to encounter them out and about in the city. Some members are more socials than others but foremost is their curiosity and more often than not you will see one of them near chaos, observing it from the sides after having stirred it or right at its center.

FLAW: The flaw most of our characters share is that they are not big planners, at least not in the way one might expect. They might pour a lot of thoughts in one’s demon, how to bring it to the surface, how it should be tested etc… But they might very well execute that plan while standing in front of a massive crowd that can easily overtake them. In general they are very easily led by their emotions and obsessions.

POTENTIAL ENEMY: By their nature and actions it is likely they will have contacts with all the factions/groups around the city. As far as other gangs, considering they will be hanging nearby the Pawn shop, close to Sumfai territory, it is likely that will have an impact. Likewise, Esmeralda being an old Reaper, there is always a possibility for a story there. In general however they will be playing with a lot of varied people.

EXPERIENCE:In RL I work in a field where I am expected to handle and mediate conflicts and remain diplomatic in my interactions. I believe this translates well in my attitude online as I am easily approachable and love to advise and help people whenever I can. In addition, I might have only started roleplaying a year and a half ago but I am very passionate about it and love creating and including people in imaginative storylines.

IDEAS:We welcome RP with old and New CD RPers. As mentioned, the group is consisted of very curious characters so new players will encounter us easily out and about in the streets, likely being the ones to engage them. The process of joining however will take RP. All kinds of lifestyles and players are welcome, so long as they share the beliefs of the group, but we wish to keep a focus on relationships and stories between characters. New members of The Devouring will have to meet with and learn from the others’ Demons in order to find their own. They would be put to the test, see what brings out the darkness within, what makes them react and what nature would their demon have. Each new initiation would be very different as a result and through those roleplays is how we want to create those bonds.
