admenius residentsaidSo, I feel like the city of Hathian needs more real world government and civil organizations, especially for gangs to actually have consequences. I notice that a lot of gangs do the same tired things: Retaliate against each other, randomly attack people, randomly attack cops, randomly explode other gang's or other people's events and then suffer really no consequences or it's just a tit-for-tat capture, rape and release. Why can't we have a court system (can be held once a week, once every other day, once every two weeks etc, you get the idea) where gang members who perform especially violent acts can get sentenced to the prison in Backwaters? This would enable people who play lawyers, or who would like to play them, to have more meaningful role play that requires more than the occasional show up at the HPD. Criminals, now, do their 36 hours, and then go about their merry way. Most criminals do not follow up with parole officers (although they should) to provide lawyers with deeper role play and fulfill the sense of consequences. People who do not show up to their parole meetings, could have another police report filed against them with arrest warrants. For particularly heinous crimes, perhaps putting them in the Backwater prison would be an option. The pitfall with this is, however, that there isn't a dedicated lead to really push the role play and recruit others to the venue. It would require strong leads, not dissimilar to what we have at the HPD at present. Also, where are the banks? Bank robbery would be a great criminal activity. With the introduction of AI GPTchat, some of these positions could, for consistency, be provided for, i.e, bank president, judge, etc. Other positions could be played by actual characters. One of the biggest problems is that when you /want/ to rob a store, there's never anyone in them to actually rob, which then translates into difficulty obtaining street cred. But not only that, there's limited civil and government organizations to interact with. (I would love to see a corrupt judge!). I would also like to see city government itself. Who's our mayor? Where is his office? I would love to see city government having some power over the HPD to require them to answer to someone so they can't just go totally rogue. (Corrupt city mayor would be awesome but again would require a strong lead and not just anyone.) Right now, being a police officer, even a violent one, comes with little consequences. A good (and corrupt) mayor could provide additional role play to hospital, FDH, HPD, organizations making their role play lives more nuanced and actually provide them role play. Also, I would like to see a hospital for the criminally insane or excessively violent (Tori Yamoto anyone? Camden Fabers anyone?). We did have this in Dead End and there was some epic role play that happened there. Right now, the CD sim population is running high. I think there are enough people to get some of these things up and running. And, would likely pull in more people. The caveat to all of this is not giving these positions to random first-come applicants. Folks who want these positions should be made to apply. The secret to success is having strong role players who are on regularly to push these storylines. So these are just ideas, some of which have been previously tried (Dead End had a judicial system), and are suggestions. Maybe you have better ones? Respond and give your opinion! |
