The Proposal/Feedback Phase is an important part of faction development and approval, so please read this over and ask questions, express what you like, give suggestions you have, advice on what may or may not work based on your experience, etc. Keep in mind that admins do not necessarily need to be convinced to approve it, as a faction without potential wouldn't even be posted. Feedback means both support and giving what you see could help shape their faction story and place in the community!

GROUP NAME: The Bowies

TYPE: Faction

MEMBERS: deadlysalem, capone.enthusiast

BACKGROUND: The Bowies first maybe their way into Laveau in 1925 sent by the Irish Republic Army at the height of the America Prohibition. Capitalizing on the new American anti liquor law by smuggling Irish whiskey into the country and then sending the money earned back to Ireland to help fight that oppressive English rule over their homeland. The Bowies quickly made a name for themselves by ruthlessly attacking anyone that interfered with their profits and sending that support home. At the end of Prohibition The Bowies had to quickly adapt to the changing times and resorted to extortion and armed robbery to continue to produce for their people back home. While most crime groups and factions worked for their own greed, The Bowies always continued to keep true to supporting the IRA and the liberation of their homeland even if from afar. Near the end of the 20th century when the IRA started to break up and form smaller factions The Bowies did the same and with many of them Americanized, they decided to stay in the swamps and organize. The Irish leadership would form what would be simply called the Board and a single person they named titled the Voice that would have sole access to the entire board. All others falling into what they call Kern or foot soldiers. Another thing that was a drastic change is that Theo Bowies started to allow non-Irish fill their ranks. With the reorganization complete and the power struggles over The Bowie have once again reemerged as a dominate force in Laveau. Gobbling up control of local business and once more choosing profits over all else. Only now where those profits go are only known to the Board.

UNIQUE: The group continues to profit from both selling whiskey they receive overseas lacking tariffs and taxes, Extortion of local businesses, and blackmail. Laundering the profits through the Serpents Den performer’s tips and other services to ensure the government is not able to track the money.

FLAW: Because the leadership protects itself by having information funneled to them any type of action can be slowly to unfold. The views of the person relaying that information can also sway the board by how it is relayed to them.

POTENTIAL ENEMY: Currently the group is in the process of getting a foothold into the the Motel were deals can be made to help isolate their main operation from law enforcement and pesky reporters.

EXPERIENCE: I have been both an admin and a faction lead on several successful sims in my 10+ years in Second life. I have built factions from the ground up and have learned for both my successes and failures in that time. Combined with my real life professional skills that include origination and conflict resolution I will be able to lead this faction and the players associated with it into long term stories that will benefit not just them but the sim as a whole.

IDEAS: As with anything I always want to be inclusive and not exclusive. No matter the experience the person my have in roleplay or the amount of time that have spent on the sim I believe everyone should be given a chance to start a story and have a home. It has always been my belief that the story belongs to a player and that I remain a supporting character providing guidance and assistance but never taking over their story.
