I have two great submissions for the theater!

GROUP NAME: CD Movie Theatre

TYPE: we call them cinemas in the uk

BACKSTORY: The theatre has stood in cd since tempus immemorial. Charlie started work there not long after he quit the gein burger for a job where he didn't come home smelling of grease. More through attrition than hard work; charlie has been offered the position of theatre manager. a job he's (ic) ill equipped for. There's no agenda and no masterplan. These seldom work out in my experience. I hope to take a more 'roll with the punches' approach and create a little space for people who like rp'ing a little humour.

UNIQUE: well, it depends on how the cinema is intended to fit in with the overall rp landscape. I'm aware that it sits right next to the kid friendly area, but is it actually part of it? If it is then i would strive for for an ic antagonism with the local kids which would provide a wealth of roleplay for everyone involved. Our poor put upon staff would be trying to retain thier sanity while the kids watch afternoon matinees of who framed roger rabbit (or whatever the fuck kids watch these days) and generally run riot. If it's not essential that the place complies with child friendly rp then i'd arrange late night porn showings featuring really trashy 70's eastern european porn for the dirty mac brigade. i'd also like to encourage it's use as a off the radar seedy meeting place; drug deals, prostitution meet ups. all of which would make the staff a little on edge but compliant none the less. plenty of ideas but at the end of the day i think it's the staff that make a place unique more than anything else and i'd like to promote a sort of resigned frustration amongst the workers.

EXP:i have managed/co-managed both gein burger and the garage, both of which were very active during my tenure. the biggest trick to actually making an rp establishment work is to have people in there, after all who's going to come to an empty shop? i think i have a good track record of motivating staff ooc and being

IDEAS:see unique section. i feel that i have good connections with a broad range of players in cd. my rp is engaging and hopefully fun. i'm a pretty laid back, drama free sort of dude (except when the hemaroids flare up)and i think i've always been good and open with the inexperienced roleplayer. in a nutshell; i can bring people to the place.

OTHER:i can do amazing ic shadow puppetry using my penis and will be using the projector to prove that at every available opportunity

BACKSTORY: Hollie Wood, daughter of successful woodcutting corporation owner Larry Wood of Wood's Inc, was a spoiled daddy's girl. After months of whining and pleading Mr. Wood conceded to buying his daughter a business to own and run. But Mr. Wood was no fool, he knew Hollie was too irresponsible and incompetent to succeed in this venture of hers - not to mention she'd be quickly bored of it since she had the attention span of a retarded housefly. So rather than spend big bucks on an expensive business in Miami or Beverly Hills, the cunning Mr. Wood invested in a plot of land in the run-down city of Hathian, which was overgoing a massive reconstruction project at the time. After buying the city's only, one screen movie theater and restoring it to a working state, he gave it to his daughter to own and run. As he had anticipated Hollie was bored of the "new, fab and fun" thing to do in a matter of weeks. So she quickly went off searching for someone to manage it for her while she went back to her previous socialite life of partying and slacking. Nick DiPietro, a writer for the local newspaper and slacking, not to mention flirty, Columtreal University Coach was naturally deemed as the most fitting candidate for said position by the blond bimbo who was so completely lacking in managerial skills. And Nick easily accepted seeing as what could be more fun than earning a generous paycheck to watch movies as soon as they come out... right? Or so he thought, at least. Soon he would find out that Hollie, spoiled brat that she was, would keep him on a rather short leash. Metaphorically short since she was holding the other end from all the way down in Miami. So to keep the little tyrant happy and her father's bulldogs at a safe distance, poor Nicky would have to actually do some work. --- Well that was a bit of background story that could (or not) be used. As regards plans and agenda, please read the points below: 1) As always, pretty much anyone can NPC a movie or other being played while they roleplay in theatre at any time and for any reason - whether it is to actually watch the movie, get frisky with a lover/prostitute or carry out a drug deal or meeting in the dark. 2) *If some sort of system to show actual movies is put in place* - Events could be organised on specific days during which a specific movie would be played at specific times. Said "schedule" would be posted on forums a few days prior so that people could organise dates, deals, outings or whatever group or individual activities they want. This would not only allow people to have fun RPing but also to OOCily enjoy an actual movie in the process. Said movie events would ideally be held regularly and show both old and relatively new movies. Also, see point 5. 3) *If such a thing is allowed in the theatre (which I believe is in the kid-friendly area* - Some of these events mentioned in Point 2, could be rated AO (Adults Only). Although adult movie theaters were more popular back when the Internet did not exist, a gritty town like Hathian would probably be perfect for a theater that still dedicates a "night" a month or so to showing pornographic clips. Please note I am not suggesting showing actual real-life porn films in the game itself. The "porn" on screen would be NPC material, left up to the imagination of attendees which could range from a horny hobo that snuck in for some entertainment to a kinky couple (or group) who are into public displays of affection. All attendees to such functions would of course be carded to be sure they are over eighteen, and OOC anti-minor rules would be put in place to safeguard CD from SL ToS infractions. 4) *If what is described in Point 3 is acceptable* - Whilst NPCing porn on screen is fun, it could be even more fun to have a scene be played out. This could be linked with Canning Productions, in the sense that Stu could "show" his movies in the theater on said AO Nights. My idea for this is some sort of system that would post a previously typed porn scene, post by post every minute or so - optionally showing a screenshot taken in SL on screen that goes along with said post. Basically, as an example: Stu (or anyone else who produces porn ICly) would "film" a porn flick with a number of his IC actors, record their posts on a Notecard which would be fed to this system and which would post this scene post by post in local chat during AO nights for people RPing there to react to. 5) All the movie events mentioned above (whether AO or not) could link the theater in with other businesses. Things like a food establishment providing catering for free/cheap during the showing of the movie. Pizza and movie anyone? Also possible during said events are the dreaded commercials! Businesses and other organisations could "film" (and by film I mean write up a post that describes the ad and perhaps a screenshot or two that could be displayed on screen) adverts or public messages. These could vary from your 'Daily Coffee from the Daily Grind' ads to health awareness ad campaigns against eating too much popcorn or something. Ads could be played before, after and even during the "intermission" of said movie showings. 6) Last but certainly not least, the theatre could be used as an actual theatre rather than just a movie showing one. By spawning a temporary prim or two to extend the raised platform and make it a little bigger, drama companies (such as members of the Acting class being held at CU) could organise live performances on stage, which would be advertised like other movie events. If you do not have a whole drama crew at your disposal you could get in touch with the manager to organise a one man show. Examples: Open mic nights, stand up comedy acts, marionette shows... pretty much anything one can do on a stage. Heck we could even host our own version of American Idol.

UNIQUE: Apart from the obvious fact that it is the one and only theater in Hathian, Hollie Wood's would stand apart in that it encourages people to not only walk in and carry out their own impromptu scene with NPCed movies and staff members, but also to come to regularly organised group events, whether it is alone to wank at porn, in a group to laugh at a romantic comedy or even *gasp* perform!

EXP:I consider myself to be a pretty creative and easy going person, not easily troubled by OOC drama and whatnot. Also having held a Business Studies class at Columtreal for a semester or so, I am quite familiar with setting up an event involving a number of people. I've been RPing in CD for a couple years now as a few different characters so I am comfortable with the rules and settings of the sim, and I think have enough contacts (IC and OOC) to organise a multitude of different events with different sponsors and/or performers.

IDEAS:Having already described my ideas and planned events above I will not repeat myself here. However I believe the theater could provide a rather unique experience to both old timers and newcomers alike. It would provide the opportunity for both roleplaying fun and OOC movie-watching fun (if a movie system like described in Point 2 above is in the plans). It would provide jobs for the unschooled people of Hathian (don't need a college degree to sell popcorn and clean the kernels people decide to toss off the floor).
