BACKSTORY: Moonshadow Investigations will provide confidential, professional investigative services to private citizens, corporations and organizations. The agency will operate under a strict charter of non-violence (except in self defense) and an ethical code which will allow for certain actions (eg. making payments to trusted information sources 'snouts') but will forbid overt or violent criminal acts (eg. assault, kidnap, rape). The agency will be run by Angel Moonshadow, a well known 'clean' ex-HPD Detective Sergeant with over 400 cases worked (the highest in the HPD). The agency will screen all potential jobs and will refuse to take on work deemed to breech the organization's ethical code (eg. they will NOT assist in criminal activity nor act as intelligence gatherers for any gang). Furthermore, the agency will NOT partake in investigations against serving police officers, so as not to disrupt contacts and relations with the HPD. Investigations will focus exclusively on the collection of evidence to produce a report for the client. Evidence gathering activities might include; Crime Scene Forensic analysis, Interviews, Surveillance, Criminal and public database searches and the collation of information from informants and contacts. Upon completion of an investigation, a report will be handed to the client. It will then normally be the client's responsibility to decide if they wish to pursue the matter further and take any evidence in the agency's report to the police. Under certain circumstances, the agency may share information with police contacts or others if doing so is in the interests of the client or to protect the agency or its employees from exposure to criminal charges or attack. All potential new clients will be required to be interviewed, will be given an initial estimated quotation (minus expenses), and, if the terms are accepted on both sides, will be required to sign a contract with the agency and provide a 30% fee payment up-front. The remaining 70% of the fee (plus expenses) must be settled prior to receiving the final investigation report. The agency will consider applications to hire dedicated, skilled investigators on a staff or freelance basis provided they agree to work strictly within the framework of the agencies ethical code and are prepared to sign a binding contract to that effect.

UNIQUE: Moonshadow Investigations will provide a non-corrupt alternative to the HPD. It may be of benefit for characters who want to follow-up on a scene involving crime, but are otherwise mistrustful or afraid of going to the police. Whilst the agency's powers will be more limited than a police officer (eg. no powers to arrest or detain suspects), all investigations will be carried out to professional standard comparable to a law enforcement officer (as best we can).

EXP:My character, Angel Moonshadow, has been extremely active in Investigations within the HPD Detective Division and has the highest ever recorded worked cases in the HPD. She has a widespread reputation for being non-corrupt and for attention to detail in investigations. OOC I am online every day and believe absolutely in fair play. I believe the role of an investigator is to act in support of criminal story lines and that the fun comes from the journey together in weaving the story, not the result. I try to ensure my RP is flexible enough to ensure all parties involved can enjoy their characters' OOC consensual involvement, do not feel forced into an unwanted situation, and that not every investigation has to end in a criminal conviction. I feel it is important to not allow a player's (often extensive) RP efforts to go to waste hitting an unnecessary dead end and will always do my best to follow through with my contribution of investigation RP to a satisfactory conclusion for the other players. We are all here to have fun.

IDEAS:My alt, Dr Teo Micqui (TeoMicqui Resident), runs the 'AS pathology & forensic lab' in Vodou and the lab will likely be used extensively in the agencies investigation RP. I also have a cool 'Bob the Builder' surveillance van and intend to open an office for the agency in Hathian. Provided the work does not conflict with the agencies ethical code, we will consider work from any individual, business, corporation or organization, including sub-contracted work from government departments or law enforcement agencies.

OTHER:Whilst Angel is my main character, I have a number of alts (Trixie, Teo and Phoenix) who I can hop onto and always find something to keep me busy in RP, so I do not require the agency to have constant work to RP with. Similar to the funeral services I provide on Teo, the agency will be available 'ad-hoc' as community RP resource and I will concentrate efforts on investigations as the RP story lines dictate. As a certified SL addict who is online every day for a scary amount of time, I have been able to keep a large number of separate story lines going on different characters without a problem. I am from the UK and RP often during European hours, but I also frequently go nocturnal and RP through the night when required to be able to interact with US players.
