If you asked Bruni about her past, you'd probably get a smart assed answer, her favorite being that she was hatched from a crack rock and was so ugly that her handlers tried to burn her alive, but she was just too fucking stubborn to die.

In reality, young Bruni was born addicted to crack, no thanks to a prostitute mother and a father she never met due to said crack whore dying shortly after newborn Bruni was placed as a ward of the state of Texas. In part because of her rough start in life, and the rougher surroundings of foster care, Bruni learned that she was inadequate and no one could be trusted to help. She has a learning disorder and has a hard time reading and keeping up with numbers, and a tendency towards bouts of uncontrollable panic and rage that has led her to time in various juvie halls all over Texas for fighting and getting mixed up in drugs, mostly pot that managed to relax her better than stuff the doctors would give her.

At age 13, she was placed in her last home, with a family that really tried to give her space and work with her disabilities, and for a brief time, she was almost happy. The family had other foster kids, including an younger boy named Mickey who took a liking to the introverted girl. The liking turned into something twisted as Mickey wanted Bruni to run away so they could be a 'family' of their own. Bruni was, again, almost happy, nearly clean from drugs and booze, even taking classes at a local school, so she had little desire to leave.

One day, Mickey and Bruni were cleaning up the family's shed and Mickey asked her again to leave with him. The talk turned into an argument, which turned into a fight. Mickey hit her with a rake, one of the prongs puncturing her left eye. In pain and shock, she was barely able to fight off getting gas poured on her body, and then the flames started. Mickey had tried to bring the whole shed down on her. He is currently serving time for his crimes until he reaches legal age.

It took nearly a year of surgery and pain and grafts to keep Bruni's body functioning again, but the attack left her body scarred and her mind shattered. She was prone to fits of anger, attacking any who touched her. At the first chance she got, to avoid Mickey or being put into another home, she ran from the hospital, and managed to avoid capture until she left Texas.

Now, she gets by raiding dumpsters and begging for cash for food and drugs, having returned to pot and adding coke to the mix in order to stay awake when she needed to living on the street. The scars are on 85% of her body, including the back of her head and she wears her hair long (and dyed when she can afford to/can shoplift dye) to cover the massive bald spot. In her eyes (or eye), she is an ugly scarred animal, despising the 'weak', trusting few, using who she can to get the next meal or high, easily angered and quick to violence. Armed with a switchblade, she takes her joy from drawing blood from a perceived threat and finds strength in never backing down from a challenge.
