Alia is a 22-year-old Montana girl from a small town whose most notable and news-worthy feature was getting a Walmart two years ago. Unlike most in her town, Alia is only a moderate Christian, so she is more open-minded than the other hicks she grew up with. After realizing how wrong her mother was about the man, she came to Hathian to reconnect with her father, whom her mother divorced and took custody of Alia from. Her father, whose only crime in her town was not being straight as an arrow, was happy to reconnect with Alia, and for a few months, things looked up.

Alia's father was diagnosed with late-stage cancer of the lungs, his chimney smoking catching up with him. Alia put all she had into making him comfortable, and their last days together were full of fond memories. Having given up her blossoming career in journalism for the Montana Times, being disowned by her mother, and spending all she had to care for her father, Alia was left near destitute with the last of her funds paying for his funeral. His passing was a private affair nearly, with his only remaining cousin showing.

Spending a few months finalizing the sale on his house, Alia had just enough to snag a motel in a nearby city while she looked for a new job. Her debts (mostly) paid, and having come to terms with the loss, she decided it was time to get out and socialize again.

Brave, excitable, and full of a lust for life, Alia often feeds her curiosity and tries to be as helpful as possible. Sadly, her sense of direction is comparable to a few somewhat disoriented window flies. She is almost always looking at her (often crumpled) travel map and sweating up a storm in the Hathian heat.
