Hidden Relic

BACKGROUND: Antiques are a glimpse into another world. A world that is not unlike our own, yet it has it's own history and feelings. Walk into any antique store and you will feel the past wrap around you in a gossamer blanket of secrets that are just waiting to be brought into the light of day. Hidden Relic is no different. The past will meet the future, in ways not many would see. Is that item you just spent a small fortune on really from the 1890's? Or could it be a well made forgery that just made the proprietor a tidy little profit? Hidden Relic will have something for everyone, from baseball cards to pictures of Elvis. From treasured cameos to cursed dibuk boxes. What will you find there? Employees would be required in RP to have a background check and be bonded. I would prefer a small staff that would be 'taught' the intricacies of spotting forgeries and maintaining the mysterious air of a quiet antique shop. My character has a naturally vivacious, flirty personality that is warm welcoming to anyone, a true Southern Belle. But deep down she has a darkness she tries to hide from the world, and a location where she can trade and dabble with secrets and favors in exchange for goods would fit right into her desire for control in a world that has only viewed her based on her pretty face. She could use her favors to make the world burn, or at least cause a bit of chaos.

 

UNIQUE: I feel that an antique store has a limitless potential to carve story-lines, to enhance roleplay. As an avid antiquer myself in IRL, I know the thrill of finding that -one- item that you thought you would never find. Stumbling over something you would sell your soul to possess. Hidden Relic would gladly accept that soul, for the right item. I envision Hidden Relic as a place of secrecy that is wide open if one looks close enough. Flawless forgeries combined with priceless treasures. A den of money laundering and greed, combined with the mysticism of the Lousiana Bayou with cursed objects and mythical voodoo supplies. All very hard to procure items. There is also an element for pawning, as every commodity can be bought, and any item can be procured, for a price. Can't pay my price? Pay with something besides money. Secrets, favors. Things that will put you in my debt, but do not be surprised when the darkness comes calling.. every debt must be paid.

 

EXPERIENCE: I am a manager in real life and have been running the Starlust Motel. Truthfully, I have not enjoyed the motel as much as I believed I would, however, I do feel as if I am a very friendly and open person, willing to step up and answer questions, invite newcomers into my stories, and am very approachable both IC and OOCly. I'm always happy to lend a hand and answer questions, or help people settle.

 

IDEAS: I have spent my time as the StarLust lead answering questions in the group when people have asked for assistance. I have messaged people hovering near the business, inviting them to come in for a scene if they would like. Roleplay is something we are all here to enjoy and participate in, to escape our own lives and problems, to find solace in the creation of a world where we can be anything we wish. No one should ever feel excluded from that, and I have always been and will always be open to anyone who wishes to RP at Hidden Relic.

 

OTHER: If approved, for a grand reopening I would like to do a Halloween themed silent auction of items that are proposed to be cursed and items that would be useful in many voodoo and wiccan rituals. Things such as daggers and wands, chalices and crystals. Haunted mirrors and cursed tea pots, with a dibuk box as the main item. I don't want the store to be known as paranormal or accursed, but I think with the spooky season upon us, it could be quite fun to showcase the darker side of antique items.
