Apologies to hijack Callico's topic, but I have actually been looking at ways to add more 'roles' without adding more roles. Due to the rank system the PD has, we are basically are very limited by the number of tags available to us, while for instance not everyone can be a detective. We can only have 9 tags in total, with the current ranks taking up all but one i think at the moment.
However I thought a specialist position, similar to tactical, could be made available and used to form special details, such as K9, the anti gang unit or criminal intelligence, where even if the tag didnt state exactly what it was, it would at least be a special assignment or role on paper and different radio call sign. The specialist would still be assigned to patrol division and work in uniform at least some of the time, but i am open to other ideas or suggestion as well as seeing who is interested in what. Although i should point out, there is no guarantee this will happen.

K9 unit
Anti Gang Unit (similar to LAPD CRASH, if you dont know what that is, go watch a movie called Colors)
Juvenile Unit (to handle cases involving kids)
Criminal Intelligence (who work with informants, conduct surveillance and such)
Media Liason ( we actually already have one officer doing this, thanks Fae!)
We already have tactical / swat style role, but other ideas are appreciated.
