Little background first. At times, we have been organizing these small, IC meet&greet/Q&A events for officers, mostly aimed to rookies to get the chance to say hi to other cops within the station, which have been quite popular and successful. These events are announced few days prior at HPD group, they have been about 1-2 hours long usually, with set date and time and changing topics with police work theme.
Now, as there's been comments from cop, civilian and criminal players regarding difficulties to meet eachother as of late, we're extending the concept of our small IC get togethers outside PD's walls, in form of varying police themed IC goals, open for anyone to join in, such as setting up a DUI checkpoint, immigration control, alcohol control(harassing bar type establishments customers and employees!), Terry Stops, weapons control, warrant checks and so on. This idea is not exactly new, of course.
The problem usually has been the small number of available characters out at streets to be interacted with, as non-HPD people aren't OOC'ly aware about bunch of cops on the prowl, which is why we will start to use this topic to OOC'ly announce when and where it's certain to bump active scene with actively engaging on-duty officers and what they're after, should you wish your character "accidentally" stumble upon the scene and have their civil rights violated -- Or just as onlooker, should you prefer that.
The OOC goal is not to have every scene turned into IC riot, nor arresting and beating up everyone who strolls by, but all that of course can happen, we will roll with whatever comes, so 1-2 hours is not really a rule here! The gist is to announce only date and time OOC'ly, then let the scene evolve organically from there. We'll also mark the date and time to event calendar, whenever there's a coordinated HPD field trip happening.
