Subject: FIREARMS
PURPOSE
The purpose of this order is to establish policy and procedure for the use of firearms by all sworn officers of the Hathian Polce Department. A sworn officer is authorized by state and federal law to use a firearm as a means to defend themselves from deadly physical force. Firearms are considered lethal weapons and their use constitutes deadly force. The use of firearms to control the resistance of a subject shall be limited to those situations in which deadly force is warranted as written in the department use of force policy.
PROCEDURE(IC)
-Officers shall not draw or display a firearm unless there is a threat, or reasonable suspicion of a threat of death or great bodily harm to an officer or another person.
-Officers shall not discharge a firearm except to protect themselves or others from death or great bodily harm.
-Officers shall not discharge a firearm from a moving vehicle.
-Officers shall not use a firearm to threaten or subdue persons whose actions are destructive to property or injurious to themselves but not an imminent threat of death or great bodily harm to an officer or a third person.
-Officers shall not discharge firearms in the direction of the person to be arrested, even though no intent exists to kill or inflict serious physical injury.
-Officers shall not modify their department firearm without proper authorization.
-Officers shall not discharge a firearm as a warning or to give alarm.
-Officers shall discharge their firearms only when doing so will not endanger innocent persons.
-Officers may discharge a firearm during authorized training or for authorized recreational purposes.
-No officer shall unnecessarily display or remove a firearm from a holster in the presence of others unless such display is necessary as part of the officer’s duties.
-Officers shall not engage in horseplay with firearms, loaded or unloaded.
-All officers shall use sound judgment in the handling of firearms in order to prevent accidental discharge which may result in injury or death to a person or damage to property.
-An officer shall not surrender a firearm.
AUTHORIZED FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION
I. On Duty Firearms: The following firearms are authorized by the Hathian Police Department for both on and off duty carry and use by sworn officers.
a. G17 Semi Automatic Pistol - Ammunition 9x19mm
b. Beretta 92 Semi Automatic Pistol - Ammunition 9x19mm
c. Smith and Wesson Model 910 Semi Automatic Pistol - Ammunition 9x19mm
II. Off Duty Firearms and Ammunition
a. Officers are permitted to carry and use their on duty firearms when off duty.
b. Officers who wish to carry and use firearms not listed above when off duty must get written authorization from the Commanding Officer of the Department.
IV. Submachine Guns, Shotguns and Assault Rifles
a. These weapons will only be used when authorized by the Commanding Officer of the Department
b. Submachine Guns
i. Heckler & Koch MP5 - Ammunition 9x19 mm
ii. Colt 9mm SMG - Ammunition 9x19mm
c. Shotguns
i. Remington Model 870 - Ammunition(Non-Lethal) 12 GA. Defense Technology Drag

REPORTING AND REVIEWING USES OF A FIREARM
i. The Commanding Officer of the Department shall be notified immediately after a use of firearm either on or off duty, accidental or intentional.
ii. Any use of firearms shall be included in all written reports completed by all Officers and/or supervisors involved in such incidents.
iii. The Department Commanding Officer shall review all incidents involving the use of a firearm.
iv. Officers found to be in violation of this order shall be immediately terminated from the department and possibly subject to arrest.
OOC RULES
-All officers shall draw and aim their firearm in one post then discharge their firearm in another post.
-All officers shall post firing no more than two(2) shots in a single post. This only includes firing a submachine gun and assault rifles.
-Submachine guns and Assault Rifles shall be fired at a semi automatic rate of fire. No automatic fire shall be permitted.
-All officers shall only possess and use the authorized the above stated weapons. No unrealistic weapons(rocket launchers, desert eagles, miniguns, etc.) shall be used
-Officers shall not carry any weapon other than their pistol unless authorized by the Commanding Officer of the HPD.
-Only officers who are eligible to use firearms shall be authorized to use such firearms

-Officers who violate this order and/or the firearm guidelines of the sim will be immediately removed from the Hathian Police Department and will not be permitted to return in addition to possible penalties by the sim adminstration.
