We have seen many ideas the past few years including the guide for HOTP .... what other ideas do you have so that we can create a 'handbook" for our FTOs?
What we are looking for: The aim is to provide a simple and broad foundation of ideas for FTOs to use as they ICly train in groups and 1:1 . We want to steer away from lengthy guides and presentations that teach folks about 'How to write a report' or 'How to conduct an interview'. We understand that bad reports lead to detectives not being able to follow up on cases, but that is what creates RP! Hathian is a poor town filled with corruption and frustration.
Here are a couple ways to start thinking about this. Think constructively, not just critically:
- What doesn't work? What have you found really sucked the fun out of being trained as a Rookie (or having to train a Rookie)
- What types of scenes/use cases would be a fun way to teach our Rookies and Officers looking to advance (Remember not all training is for Rookies!
- How do you see training in the future Academy working? These folks won't all be HPD Hopefuls. Some may just want to become campus security or attending for elective credit!
- If there needs to be a supplemental guide, provide suggestions on what the HPD can't live without and how it would be used in a scene.
