Physics – Why can’t I scream in space – with Prof. Y. Toran
This lecture explores the fundamental nature of sound as a mechanical wave and explains why the vacuum of space is perfectly silent. Students will examine the properties of waves, the necessity of a medium for sound transmission, and the scientific principles that govern how we hear and why we cannot hear in the void of space. The lecture also touches on how astronauts actually communicate and the misconceptions perpetuated by science fiction.
