History 101: The Whitewashing of Greek Antiquity

When asked to picture Ancient Greece, most of us would say it was a world of gleaming, pure white marble. We see the remnants in our museums and even our own government buildings in Washington D.C. But what if this was all a myth? What if I told you that those ancient statues and buildings did not start out as that pristine white and that this idea is a historical distortion—a White Lie?
