Zayn Winx

Age: 23

Grew up in idyllic if not boring Bishop, California.  Her large family never was too rich, but also never really wanted for much of anything.  Two brothers and three sisters, and the whole family was quite happy and set on strong foundations and bright sunny futures from early ages.  All except for Zayn, who rebelled against perfection, didn't accept the helping hands that tried to keep her on the path everyone else had no problem walking.
Doing poorly in school was just the first sign of her future, falling in with the kids who grew up rough was another.  By the time she was fifteen she had been arrested and forgiven for enough misdemeanors and a few crimes that would have sent many other children to juvie.  Even though she nearly failed every class due to inattention or nonattendance she was on track to graduate.  Instead her Junior year she dropped out, barely passed her G.E.D. on her third try and joined the Army.  Something no one in her family had ever done.
When she gets into the military, the basic training nearly has her washing out.  Until a turning point when some other soldiers gave her a whole new perspective on what was possible.  By all metrics she became not just a passable soldier, but a fine one.  Taking on additional duties and impressing superiors.  This of course, was not the facts.  She had fallen in with a group of soldiers and command that were operating as drug and human traffickers.  Closely working with cartels and every criminal organization they could in the states.
She quickly integrated into this group and even became a central piece, working in intelligence and helping organize passages, drop offs and pickups.  Though she only rarely got close to the cargo or players on the ground.  The fast and exciting lifestyle drew her in, spending many nights wild parties and dropping large sums of money on expensive things.
The fast lifestyle is eventually what caught up to them.  When the hammer dropped however, it was during a period where her drunken nights had left her being quite lazy with her end of the program, something that no doubt made it even easier for the rest of them to get caught.  When the charges started dropping, she never got hit.  Though she was brought in and held for questioning, it being clear she was involved, there was no definite paper trail or charges they could stick her with.  Even without being charged, she was quickly discharged from service, clearly not trustworthy.
Out on the street, most of her assets seized and with no desire to return home, she headed to one place she knew she could walk into town without too many questions.
