Is lack of self-discipline something one can be blamed for? Maybe it's genetic. Yeah, that sounds better...

Roza is a fairly long-time resident of the Hathian area. She is an educated woman. And a well-travelled one. She is from Europe, though her herritage can be traced back a lot further east. She originally came to the US after having taught English for foreign speakers in Indonesia when she was accepted as a teaching-assistant and post-PHD student at a prestigious university. However, at the last, her funding fell through as she neglected to fill out all the necessary forms for a grant. Or more accurately, she neglected to read the letter that told her that she needed to send them in.

As she was already in the US, and having managed to at least get a green-card out of the failed job-application, she responded to an add asking for teachers for a school in the Hathian urban area. That job didn't work out so well. Paychecks did not come in, staff seemed absent, students only existed on paper, and what students showed up did not really seem interested in being taught so much as doing other things with their new teacher. She quit... though not formally. And ironically, as soon as she stopped coming in for work, the pay-checks started coming in.

Being naturally lazy, Roza did not feel much inclined to amend the situation. She was living in a trailer not too far from the school by that time. Rent being cheap, she could get by well enough. At some point, the checks stopped coming in, though. After money began to become tight, she did some odd editorial jobs, but nothing which lasted, mostly because she did not put any real effort into getting new assignments.

Her supply of money drying up has led her to go out and look for some sort of job, recently. She does not feel much inclined to play the part of shop-assistant or waitress, however. She is far too educated for that! She has accepted a house-guest from England who shares the rent with her a short while ago, which is helping her get by for the moment.

And one day soon, she will become really active and take charge of her life, have a proper carreer. Tomorrow, she will do that. For now, she will just have another coffee...
