As a long time member of both Crack Den and now Dead End, I would like to bring up a topic I think needs clarifying for those that have been on sim for some time. This stems from a specific event that took place at around 8:30pm slt on 6/17/2016, but I won't name names cause I don't feel that's important an issue of standards of rp based on realism and not on feelings for someone ooc are what I think is the heart of the issue.
This event did not happen to me directly, I witnessed it. SO that all being said, I have some standard questions.
- Do 911 calls get answered based on player familiarity with another player?
- Do 911 calls that might seem 'unclear' get ignored?
- Is there a protocol for IMing posters to 911 when something isn't quite understood to be clarified, or does it just go unanswered based on an assumption of error?
- What is the onus on the players playing cops, fire, etc municipalities, by which I mean, what are they told are their roles and responsibilities for 911?
- If a player feels that they are repeatedly ignored possibly because others in the sim are uncomfortable rping with this person, does that mean that players dictate who gets their calls answered? Or should they be answering all calls within reason when they decide to play a major role on the sim that demands more attention for other players stories?
I do understand we all have scenes to play, but I do have a question related to the amount of work required to simply answer a 911 in an IM while rping, and then telling the characters' players that there's no one replying so they don't sit there for eons waiting to see when something should be npc'd. Unless of course there's no one around at all then no one can hardly be blamed. However it was 8pm slt, not 4 in the morning.
I do hope that these questions are addressed in an adult and serious manner, as I do really feel the incident though, heated, was treated poorly indeed, when the frustrations of a player go unaddressed, there needs to be a true attempt at resolution and not just 'its all your fault' directed at them.
Happy RPing!
