What is a Story Arc?
According to Google... "a story arc is an extended or continuing storyline in episodic storytelling media such as television, comic books, comic strips, boardgames, video games, and films with each episode following a narrative arc. On a television program, for example, the story would unfold over many episodes."
Story Arcs in the Crack Den
From time to time, staff and leaders will collaborate on ideas submitted by the community and put together a sim-wide story, or "arc".
These arcs will run anywhere from a week to months, will usually impact the entire city, and will be posted here for you to read and find ways to integrate your character into. It's up to you if you want to be involved or use as part of your character's daily interactions and scenes.
You can start discussions and post them in the story arc thread related to them.
Events vs. Story Arcs
Events have a start and finish time, a specific point of contact, and a location on sim. Story Arcs are more general stories that impact the Island and can be used in your own story.
Any player may view or host their own event. Upcoming Events are automatically promoted in-world and daily "word on the street" notices. You may also request an admin to post a notice in the role-play group if the daily notice cap hasn't been reached.
Who can post in this forum?
Story weavers are tasked with collaborating on ideas with the community and publishing current story arcs that are running here. They will also post updates to a story thread as reference articles and knowledge accumulates and can be shared. When a story arc has reached the end, the story thread will be locked.
How can I submit ideas?
Building story arcs requires participation from you! To get started, post your idea on the RP forums to get community feedback. You can always ask an admin or story weaver to take a look at it and see if it's something we can work into an official arc.
