Nadir TaovsaidIn the past couple weeks, I've been getting whored with requests for Armed Criminal titles. I don't know how it started, but I am going to address it before I even respond to an IM about it. The role itself has been decommissioned from the app system for 9 months now. In that time, I'm rather pleased with the lack of powergaming complaints we've gotten. Honestly, I am more inclined to axe guns in the sim, but I know there are people out there that value it and have brought positive role-play around it as well. Before making any decisions, I'd like to hear what you guys have to say on the subject. I think as a community, we've evolved to the point where we look past the "I wanna win!" mindset and go for what's fair and creative for a story. However, there's still a significant amount of people trying to grasp that concept ... and the 600 so apps we see a month now means there are probably more newbies who will be learning. Also, we'll be eventually switching the sim to adult-rating, blocking out 90% of our griefers and newbies with AK47s strapped to their back. The application system is evolved to the point where it can do checks to see how long someone has been accepted to any or particular CD group (using the app system before), and not only do group invites, but add roles to pre-existing members in a group. It's not perfect, but i'll be damned if I'm going back to archaic notecard tracking 😉 So, with all these things in mind, I'm looking for feedback as to how to regulate guns and possible policies. In fact, I'd also like to hear ways to do it without the need of an application system too. In summary, I'm asking for: What reasons would someone need a gun, considering how quickly it would an RP scene? Feedback as to what the role-play environment looks like today w/ guns from your perspective. Suggestions as to how to regulate weapons without drastically increasing chances of PG complaints. Suggestions for policies on weapons. thanks! |
