Meet Sapphire Laurene, a shy girl who hates nothing more than confrontation. Sapphire comes from England and remembers - fondly - memories she had as a child when some exchange students had arrived at her school and told her all the wonderful things about Hathian but when she got off the bus, she was - less than pleasantly I might add - surprised.

Sapphire is 22 years and is the daughter of a Restaurateur and School Teacher. Her father would always take her into his restaurant when she was younger and introduce her to some wonderful new foods until his death when she was 9.
Her Mother fell into a deep depression after his death. She quit her job and began taking drugs, starting small and building up to heroine. At age 14, Sapphire found her Mother passed out on their sofa and she was later removed by CPS where she was placed with a foster family whom she stayed with until she was 16 and left to get her own place.

As a hard worker it wasn't hard for Sapphire to save money and rent somewhere to live but she gave all that up to chase her dream of visiting Hathian. She suspected, however, that her dream may have now turned into a nightmare.
