paige-moranesaidA friend of mine and I were talking about the Vudu shop and how things were going, what elements I was incorporating, etc etc, when he came up with a genius idea. Due to the fact that the shop does focus around the occult and Voodoo traditions, we thought about doing a sim wide event to incorporate that element, maybe use this as an introduction for the Voodoo practices in Hathian. Before diving into the idea, I want to explain my reasoning behind adding this as a possibility for an event. Hathian is located in Louisiana, very close to New Orleans, and there's a wide influence of the voodoo culture in that area of the country. That area of the country is famous for its legends of ghosts, vampires, tales of deep dark creatures that go bump in the night. I spent quite a bit of time doing my research, and came across many legends about situations where a ritual when wrong, and normally the consequences were dire. Ever since taking charge of the shop, Amber has taken an interest in the culture and practices, and has been regularly studying and practicing. His idea, was to have Amber cast a hex/ curse whatever on the city, which would affect the people of Hathian. Now, there are many avenues you can go with this. Basically, it would be up to the people to play along, notice they don't feel like themselves, and maybe do things they wouldn't normally do. Again, there's so many options available here, that we could even do it on more than one occasion. Also, would people be interested in having a specific hex go wrong? Would it just be general, and people chose what way they are affected, if any? Here's a few examples: 1: People feel different. They may act the opposite of how they usually are. (picture gang members acting all sweet and caring here, alright?) 2: A love spell gone wrong, perhaps making people randomly fall in love for a temporary time 3: Magnifying aggression, anger, happiness, and any other emotion you can think of. 4: Physical ailment (headaches, ulcers, nausea, acne, hair loss, hair gain, rashes) I'm thinking that these can be events that either last one day, or a whole weekend, depending on how involved people are willing to get. Amber would probably cast it at the alter in her shop, as that's where she usually practices, and either hexes will fizzle out on their own, or there could be something more dramatic, and people have to figure out something specific that would end it, making it like a fun puzzle to solve. I've done my research, and it's said that in order to remove a curse, there are many ways of doing so. These are just a few examples. 1: wash the front steps of your house with brick dust 2: wear a small bag of gris gris somewhere upon your body 3: See a Voodoo priest to rid you of the curse I think there's quite a bit of potential for all kinds of fun roleplay here, and quite a few options to take this. Would love to see other peoples opinions! |
