wilbur fitzgeraldsaidThe Story: The chain that used to keep the old factory gates secured scrapped against the old rusted metal as it swung in the dimming light of the evening. One by one the misguided, the unlucky, the degenerates, the junkies and the homeless started to take claim. Money was not used here, it was a bartering system. A pack of smokes could get you a case of beer, an 8-ball of coke just cost giving up your girl for the night. It was a rising shanty town. The people looked out for only themselves. Strangers who walked the area were paid little mind to or shanked where they stood if only to steal their shoes. It truly was a place where no questions were asked and if the police did come? No one aint seen shit. It was this reason it was used as neutral ground for black market trades or meet ups for local gangs. For the lone criminal it was a good place to lay low. Where is this mystery little area? It's rumored to be somewhere in Devils Pocket with a blue crane and a dirty dilapidated brick wall where the old dock house is. Wonder what these vagabond had in store for that thing. The Premise: I wanted a place where the homeless, the street rats, junkies, vagabond, gypsys etc... could call home. It is open for everyone and anyone to use so (even if there are some rentals) you are free to come in and set up a tent, lay down a sleeping bag, put up a tiny hobo shelter or use the ones set out. It's like a tent city of sorts. I love the concept of a bartering system within the shanty town. Goods and services are traded for well, goods and services. If you need some shady work done the people who frequent this shanty town might be who you are seeking. I might try and see if there is any interest in maybe doing a weekly 'meet up' where it's like an illegal flea market. Gangs can have their product, your gun dealers, your house painters (hitmen), stolen goods (pawn shop? 😉 ) etc... where people of this seedy lifestyle can meet up if they so choose. I know the FDH is looking for some roleplay and I could try and work something out with them to do maybe a welfare check day in that area. Maybe a place some more discreate EMS work could go on off the books. I don't know the imagination runs wild! But anyway...it is just a little area I thought could add some flavor for those interested. Rentals: I do offer 4 rentals in the shanty town for those looking for a more permanent dwelling and want to use your own furniture. Granted anyone can set something down (be reasonable) you are essentially calling squatters rights to a building. The Warehouse: I'm leaving that space empty for now as I will see what might happen with it organically but I do have a few plans brewing. In Conclusion: I wanted to introduce this plot of roleplay land that I put together with some hopes to see it be useful to more than just me! lol.
