Hiyas folks! Camden here! If you're unaware, we have a sim wide event going on for most of December.

Here's the OOC description of the event:

The Secret Santa Sim-wide event is set to run December 1 - December 23, 2022 on the MAIN Hathian sim in SL.

There's an advertisement on the dark web for 'seasonal holiday work' that somehow also got listed on the regular job hunting websites like Indeed and LinkedIn. Your character would come across it somehow, and after applying online, would be mailed an outfit to wear, a holiday bell to ring while in costume, and a burner cell phone to receive instructions on with a simple printed note that read "Wear the costume, ring the bell, recite your scripts and get paid daily."

Basically, imagine the salvation army bell ringers. Same vibes, but you don't have to stand in one place, and you instead run around ringing the bell and spreading the rumors of amazing gifts and cash to be found in the gifts and encouraging people to find them IC via hints etc. Either way is acceptable. Your 'outfit' can be whatever Christmas theme you like (elf, candy cane, snowman, etc. Just NO SANTA. This is important!)

The phone would be shitty and old (think old nokia flipphone. Functional for texts but that's about it) and have one group of text messages from an unknown number, that contained the 'seasonal holiday cheer script' for each employee to recite. It reads as follows:

"Season's Greetings and Merry Christmas! Have you seen the Secret Santa around town?! He's a millionaire and he's giving back to the community! The Secret Santa's Holiday Helpers will hide one large wrapped gift somewhere in downtown Hathian, From Dec 1 to Dec 22, between 8am SLT and 12pm SLT every day. If you're the first one to find it, you get to keep whatever is inside, FREE! Will there be cash? Food? A new XBOX? That kidney transplant you desperately need? Insulin? A puppy?! You'll have to search for each day's hidden gift to find out! Spread the word! Secret Santa is coming to Hathian!"

As long as your character puts on the outfit, rings the bell around town, and spreads the 'message' (whether it's word for word or improvised), your character will get a payment of $100 every day they do it. For sake of RP, the Secret Santa has eyes around town and GPS trackers on the burner phones, so they can basically tell if folks are doing work to a degree or not. It's up to you how well your character does the job though, IC'ly. All payments will be done via CashApp, anonymously.

Each day, the Secret Santa (Camden) will hide one wrapped gift prop around the main sim sometime between 9am SLT and 12pm SLT (IC'ly, these will be hidden during the wee dark hours of the morning, but due to my TZ and RL, the SL timeframe listed is when to expect them each day), according to the location chart listed below. These locations are pre-set because we sometimes need to ask OOC permission due to the nature of the gift's effects on the area.

NOTE: these gifts MUST remain within the area they were found, because OOC permissions were given for mild to moderate damage of those areas. Any attempts to IC remove these gifts should be RP'ed out as failures and triggering whatever effects are listed. Again, these gifts are NOT ALLOWED to be used to 'completely destroy a building/business'. Mild to moderate structural damage and/or fire damage, but NOT completely destroy.

Here's a brief description that you may have seen in IC channels this month:

***The music cuts off and the radio station personality introduces himself and he has a LOT of energy in his voice "Hey there all you cool cats!" It becomes clear that the radio station personality is stuck in the 70s. "I've got a caller on the line that has something to say. Go ahead caller!" The station goes silent for several long, pregnant pauses before a filtered, distorted anonymous voice starts speaking. It sounds like 3 people speaking through a robotic fan, and is impossible to distinguish gender, sex or age. But the voice is confident and charming and finally speaks "Season's Greetings and Merry Christmas! Have you seen the Secret Santa around town?! He's a millionaire and he's giving back to the community! The Secret Santa's Holiday Helpers will hide one large wrapped gift somewhere in downtown Hathian, From Dec 1 to Dec 22, between 8am SLT and 12pm SLT every day. If you're the first one to find it, you get to keep whatever is inside, FREE! Will there be cash? Food? A new XBOX? That kidney transplant you desperately need? Insulin? A puppy?! You'll have to search for each day's hidden gift to find out! Spread the word! Secret Santa is coming to Hathian!" The caller then hangs up and the dial tone is heard briefly before the radio personality cuts back in, sounding slightly confused but excited "Well you heard it here first guys and dolls! A secret santa is in Hathian. I don't know about you but I'm gonna go looking right now. Enjoy this extended commercial break!" And the station cuts to a long set of commercials after hearing the radio station personality briefly hurrying to disconnect himself.***

Every day from dec 1-22, a new secret santa gift is hidden somewhere on the main sim for folks to find. More than one person can find any of the 1-20 day gifts, as we're wanting folks to enjoy it despite timezones etc.

But I thought it might be great to have a forum thread where folks could share their favorite gift RP moments from the event. So use this thread for that! :3

Also, Dec 21 and Dec 22 will have very unique, one time gift RPs, and they will be places around 3-4pm SLT on those days, so keep eyes on those days and mark your calendars! On Dec 23, we have a parade slated on the calendar to wrap up this event. Check your calendars or poke me in world at kurtissketch resident for questions. Everyone can participate in the parade, and HPD is slated to raid it due to the secret santa and any minions that might be spreading the rumors of the gifts, so it should be a fun event.
