I played around in Hathian for a little while ago about a year and a half ago, and have found myself missing it lately, so here I am again. I can't remember many of the specifics of what Aria got up to last time around, so I'm just going to kind of pretend that that old version of Aria never existed in the first place - so here's hoping I get to get some good RP going with some of you soon!

Aria Aferlane: Aria grew up in a very troubled home in Washington state. She never knew her real father, and her mother, who struggled with drug addiction, ended up marrying her dealer when Aria was eight. Although it meant that they were no longer living on the edge of the edge of poverty, Aria's step-father was abusive and mean, and he didn't much care for having a young kid around. As Aria went through puberty, her step-father's abuse towards her went from being just verbal, to becoming physical as well. Instead of simply belittling her, slaps, punches and gropes became more and more common.

At the age of sixteen, Aria started dating a boy two years older than herself, who had just finished high school. Jumping at the chance to escape her abusive family, she moved in with her new boyfriend, David, almost immediately. Unfortunately for her, David turned out to be just as abusive as her step-father, though she didn't realize it right away. After a year with him, he had convinced Aria that all her old friends weren't worth spending time with, or keeping in contact with, and before she knew it, pretty much the only person left in her life was David. As she came to rely on him more and more, the more and more derisive he seemed to get towards her. it was about two years into the relationship before it began to dawn on Aria that her situation was no better than it had been with her family. Possibly even worse, since she no longer had any friends to lean on and help support her.

Age twenty, Aria finally reached her breaking point. David had woken her up in the middle of the night because she had been snoring. She muttered an apology and turned over to go back to sleep, but, feeling that her apology was insincere, David punched her, and shoved her out of the bed. Hurt and upset, Aria started to yell and cry, which sent David into a fury. He proceeded to beat her badly, leaving her bruised and bloody before storming out of the room. Crawling into the bathroom, Aria locked the door and eventually cried herself to sleep. When morning arrived, she left the bathroom to find that David had already left for work. Making a spur of the moment decision, she stuffed what valuables she could fit into a bag: David's video game console, some games, an old watch that he never wore, and few other things that she thought might be valuable. Heading to a pawnshop downtown, she sold everything that she had taken and used the money to buy a series of bus tickets, aiming to get to Florida, but finally ending up in Hathian, where she realized that she didn't have enough money to continue her trip.

Although she was only a couple of states away from Florida, she decided to stay in Hathian. The weather here seemed enough, and though it seemed like a very run down and worn city, she figured that that meant that living here would at least be affordable, even if it didn't have the glamorous appeal of Miami or Orlando.
