On the Matter of NPC use and Clinical Practice.
This is an open discussion rather than a simple statement. Using NPC at the hospital is a convenience in situations where side actions are justified and no Av is available to act out the function. At best it is expedient but we all know that essentially NPC borders on meta-gaming if it used to manipulate a logical outcome of a scene. In the hospital , NPC is used a lot. We have some common sense limits and of course we have abuses too. I think we need some written rules on the most obvious reasons for using that techniques and to clarify what interdictions or obligations goes with it.
Let me start by giving you an example and lets continue with a constructive discussion that will help us all setup some rules.
Eg: NPC a staff to get admitted or treated when no staff is available is perfectly ok.. the obligation then is to let somebody know what transpire (note-card)
that way your treatment becomes part of your official record.
Eg It is not possible to use an NPC to rp an action that would be against the rules of the hospital. you cannot NPC bringing weapons and killing the staff .. for example nor can you NPC treating an incurable disease. ( I am stretching to make the point) . That would be meta gaming on both count.
If your hospital NPC scene implies a certain status . He has to be rp accordingly. you cannot have surgery leading to amputation and then be seen running out of the hospital with the nurse one hour later.
If you use NPC for a discharge make sure it does not contradict the doctor orders on the hospital record. (BTW Anybody can access their own record in the new system by following the instruction on the old chart based in the record room behind the information desk.
If you intend to contradict the reason why you are hospitalized , your discharge will officially labeled AMA (against medical advice ) and you can rp the consequences the next time you come to the hospital.
Without becoming a mountain of rule , we want the hospital rp to be realistic and that requires everybody taking their hospitalization seriously..
Let's all talk about it
