XXX Shop

BACKGROUND: Over the past six years or so, Lauri has carved quite a career in the adult entertainment industry and is now widely recognised as a famous porn star, gracing the covers of Playboy and Hustler, and has starred in numerous adult movies, many of which are available in Hathian's XXX Shop. Many of those films were made by local studios, such as Venus Productions, Adamant and XXX Films. XXX Films was, in fact, founded by a previous manager of the XXX Shop, who directed her in 'Saving Ryan's Privates' and '69 Days Later.' It's this area which Lauri would hope to build upon if given a shot at managing the XXX Shop, otherwise maintaining the current status quo. While the business would continue to cater to the sale of sex toys, magazines and movies, focus would be placed on the production of quality porn and cam shows. Rather than exploit the talent that performs in these productions, these would be professionally made legitimate efforts where the talent would be respected, offering a safe work environment ('safe' being a relative notion in Hathiian!). The hope would be to fashion the XXX Shop as a one stop business catering to all adult entertainment desires, from toys, films, print media, streaming services and movie production. Semi-regular events might include such things product sales promotions, open casting calls and movie premiers (perhaps at the Theater House). Budding photographers, directors and actors might also take part in full RP sessions covering photo shoots and movie production, either in-house or on location.

UNIQUE: Wicked Studio and Darlings Sex Shop in the Backwaters covers the seedy side of the sex trade and adult entertainment, so the XXX Shop of Hathian would be the contrast to that as a more legitimate concern. It's never going to be a razzle-dazzle upmarket affair and the movie and cam show content is sure to remain hardcore (since this is still Hathian!) but it would be less about kidnapping, extortion and exploitation. Essentially, it's the difference between being a hooker at the Master Bates Inn and a stripper at the Titty Twister. That's the mood I'd be shooting for.

EXPERIENCE:I've been roleplaying in Crack Den for over six years on this character, and have successfully managed Rader Records and the Rub N Tug, so I have plenty of experience as a community leader, even running a few large-scale events such as the concerts at Rader Records. Also, I've been involved with the XXX Shop for several years, so I feel that I know the business and it's existing roster of players fairly well.

IDEAS:I'd be encouraging clerks to brush up on their knowledge of the products on sale and get creative with ideas for sales promotions, product launches and anything else they might come up with to draw in customers. I would also hope to offer those wishing to perform in front of or behind the camera a full RP experience with the film production side and work to encourage more interaction in the cam shows. Generally, I'd want to be pretty hands-on with the business and try to engage as many people as possible through interaction with the local gangs and other businesses on Bourbon Street and beyond. Perhaps a rivalry with Wicked Studio? Movie premiers at the Theater House? Casting calls or showcase catwalks at the Titty Twister? Providing models or promotional work for the Poison Apple Tattoo Parlor? All potentially possible. Perhaps players that have an OOC talent and interest in photography and machinima might get involved as well.

OTHER:I'd probably try out a dry run of an open casting call as a start-up event to draw in front of camera talent, photographers and directors, and use that as an excuse to promote products. Existing talent can get involved by sharing their experiences and offering advice to those interested in a career in adult entertainment as a performer, and clerks would have a golden opportunity to try out sales pitches.
