Alexandra MelunesaidPlease give your feedback and suggestions for this business proposal (in a constructive manner!) for this proposer to review, respond to, and take into account should they go forward as the Lead! For more information on how proposals work: http://thecrackden.com/discuss/topic/group-and-business-proposals/ Sinners TYPE: SLURL: BACKGROUND: Sinners has been idly sitting behind the Green House weed shop for a while, but has the potential to be a great social / dating spot for many different kinds of citizens in CD. We have dive bars like Lou's, the Titty Twister not far away, and a host of small eateries, but no business in the area where you might go to dance, drink (without fights usually breaking out), or bring a date you want to impress - or perhaps show off your riches and designer outfits without getting immediately mugged. Sinners can be the more stylish everyday spot for locals to hang out and for college kids who don't want to get robbed on their night out in the city. It could also be a location for VIPs, gang members, local politicians, and celebrities to show their faces and network. For regular events, I'd love to schedule theme days/nights where anyone can participate - dress-up events (wear a specific outfit/costume) would be fun for people to immerse themselves in the vibe of the event with others. Sinners would be a great spot for local businesses or VIPs to hold private events or share big announcements. Running for mayor? Hold a fundraiser at Sinners! And since I want to encourage people to meet, we could also consider Speed Dating and similar types of events. New employees would be encouraged to share their personality and make guests feel welcome as a bartender or in a security role. I want all employees to feel they can use the space to further their own stories and create new ones as they interact with other employees and guests. Stacy has been bartending at Lou's for a couple months and longs for a space that's less "rough and tumble" and more refined. She's ready to partner with friends and colleagues to offer a slick, younger vibe to this part of town. Storywise, we could partner with one of the gangs to allow them to sell drugs inside. The club gets a cut of the sales, and the gang gets to increase their reach with the citizens. Stacy already knows a few of the Rejects so that could be a logical relationship to tap into. UNIQUE: As stated earlier, Downtown Hathian lacks a good dance club/nighttime social spot - Sinners can succeed because it's not just another bar or strip club. (And Aurora, a similar kind of club, is far away, on campus.) I can see Sinners being a place where strangers, lovers, enemies, gang members, and random people high on the latest drug can come to dance, drink, discuss, and do some illegal/immoral stuff. Whereas most other businesses are open areas where we can see and hear everyone, Sinners gives us potential settings where private conversations can turn into torrid hookups, wild parties and events can happen, and meetings between powerful people can go well or bad. As Sinners is off the main strip and has its own private entrance, it already feels like a secret spot, a place with privacy where developments can occur without prying eyes watching. Sinners also has an office upstairs where private discussions and deals can go down. EXPERIENCE:Stacy would serve as the owner/manager, and I've already got a willing co-manager ready to join me. I've run a SL business before on a different sim - a photo studio - and have worked at many bars, strip clubs, and restaurants in SL where events were held and unique kinds of RP would happen. In Hathian, I've been a very active bartender at Lou's for 2 months and I'm a regular RPer, friendly, welcoming, and helpful to other players. I have longed for an opportunity where I can organize fun/interesting events to attract people. I have been very active in Hathian, meeting many new people across the sims, attending events, getting into stories (short-term and long-term), and doing what I can to support new players as well. Sinners would afford me a chance to give other players a location for their scenes to go down, as well as develop our own drama and lore. It would also allow me to deepen my own character and experience, as I'd have interesting choices to make as someone in charge of a place like this. I see a great opportunity to hire bartenders and security people who may have their own desires and agendas as well. I am also willing to partner with other business owners - part of my proposal for a re-opening event includes getting another business to cater the food. I'd be happy to partner with others on the sim and do "ad for ad" deals - 'hey thanks for coming to Sinners, when tomorrow's hangover hits, order an espresso from the Daily Grind across the way' etc. IDEAS:Holding regular events helps elevate the profile of your business. As new players see your place advertised and on the CD schedule, they'll know the place is active and (hopefully) worth checking out if the events are appealing. As I meet new players and people join the business, I'll tell them my philosophy: we are there to make players welcome and help their characters fit into the experience, whether that's as a depressed drunk looking to forget, an angry citizen who wants to vent, or someone with music in their heart and two left feet on the dance floor. Setting up the physical space will help - I would like to tweak what's currently there to allow for more couples seating - whether it's people on a date, or people discussing secret deals. I'd like to outfit the office with space as well in case some VIPs need a spot to have private convos, or a couple of horny people need to discuss something more intimate. OTHER:Aside from announcing the big event on our CD calendar, I would design a poster that advertises the event and hand it out to people I see. If possible, we can put up the poster in the immediate area so local traffic spots it. I'd want to reach out to a couple groups I think would be interested as well, such as on campus orgs like frats, sororities, football and volleyball teams. As far as the event itself goes, black tie is a great way to show it's a big deal. Perhaps we can also partner with a local food place (Bros BBQ or Jimmies Chicken, for example?) to cater the food. |
