perina mcginnissaidPlease give your feedback and suggestions for this business proposal (in a constructive manner!) for this proposer to review, respond to, and take into account should they go forward as the Lead! For more information on how proposals work: http://thecrackden.com/discuss/topic/group-and-business-proposals/ TYPE: Official Business SLURL: Hathian King Street BACKGROUND: It's a record store, so promoting music is what it's all about, from the tunes and the gear to play them on to the community that surrounds the various genres. Staff would be queried on their genre of expertise and asked to build awareness and enthusiasm for it. Social media would be utilised as an additional platform, and folks can hook up and chill out in the store itself to talk about their favourite artists and sound systems. Open air raves outside the store would highlight specific genres and showcase local DJs and bands, with coverage on WKRK (offering the chance of being picked up by the radio station as a regular performer for live sessions) and promotion via the Observer (providing press coverage and the potential for a music column for news, reviews and interviews). Such local talent can pool at the store to exchange ideas and tunes while customers can learn about the local clubs where they perform. Discount days would be another means to build awareness and community around the more popular genres. Lauri already works at WKRK and hangs out at Rader Records. Largely embroiled in the techno scene and armed with plentiful retail experience, her background in the porn industry would allow her to bring a touch of glamour to the enterprise on the basis that sex sells, focusing here on how that would apply to the music industry. UNIQUE: WKRK caters to the music scene but is a radio station first and foremost, with all that entails, and the various local nightclubs highlight popular DJs, but Rader Records is all about the music itself. There's a decent social space inside the store, and an open area available in the parking lot outside, so there's potential for fashioning a social hub there where folks could gather for raves or just to chill out and talk music. From that interplay, gangs can find and expand their musical theme, and there's the opportunity for drug trade to fuel the vibe. Technophiles can wax lyrical on the music hardware too. There's no reason why Rader Records couldn't become a highlight hotspot in Hathian, opening doors to others for even the casual passer by. EXPERIENCE:I've been a story, roleplay and group leader for several Second Life projects over my past twelve years on the Grid, and I've been a DJ in real life as well as in SL clubs. I can bring genuine life experience of the music industry to enhance the Rader Records vibe, and my time as an SL Mentor can help with the technical side of music broadcasting. IDEAS:The usual rack of CD Citizen group notices, social media promotion and calendar events, plus regular attendance on the sim and presence on the forum, would keep Rader Records fresh in people's minds, and music is a great galvaniser for building communities. With employees tasked on their favourite music genre to bring that to the fore, they're given the means to get creative and involved in something they might be enthusiastic about. OTHER:A grand opening rave would kick things off, complete with lightshow and PA stacks, with coverage on WKRK and the Observer and a special promotional deal on stock. As many local DJs as could be mustered would get a slot at the show for an extended event, perhaps making it Hathian's version of Glastonbury. Note: It was decided that Rader Records shall be split into a separate business from WKRK with a lead of its own, and current staff/group were notified first and given the opportunity to propose. |
