Master Bates Inn

BACKGROUND: The Master Bates Inn is practically a historic landmark for the City of Hathian with it's iconic name, and its former reputation as a hub for debauchery and illicit acts. Now it lies mostly dormant, save for the occasional couple seeking a one night stand, criminals looking for a spot to lay low right under the nose of the HPD, newcomers seeking a roof over their head, and the clerk that has been quietly bookkeeping for the past year, inconspicuously laundering his ill-gotten gains. While the neglected nature of the motel has served in his best interest recently, Matthew (and myself) feels as though it has sat idle for too long, and seeks to do something more with the business, whether that means seeking to return the business to it's former glory as a hub for sex workers, or leaning more into the current nature of the business providing an inconspicuous place for shady individuals to do their dirty work, his first and foremost priority being to fill the roster.

 

UNIQUE: At a base level, the Master Bates Inn is the only place in Hathian Main that provides temporary housing for citizens and visitors (unless you want to count the prison.) The current state of the inn provides an opportunity for myself future associates to be versatile in the direction they decide to take the business. The goal is to create an environment that caters to the ambitions of characters from all different walks of life, though the one constant is that the MB Inn will always maintain its sleazy, shady nature as a business.

 

EXPERIENCE: IC: Matthew's experience is primarily as a smuggler moving weapons, drugs, and the occasional trafficked individual between Hathian, Laveau, and abroad. However, recently he has spent a majority of his time acting as an unofficial manager of the motel, and has already worked to establish connections with other business owners in the area, as well as a few of the local gangs. Most notably among other roles he was a co-founding member of the Hathian Harlots, and led the gang for a short period of time. While the endeavor ultimately ended in failure, Matthew took away several key lessons throughout his experience, and intends to draw on that knowledge moving forward. OOC: I have experience with leadership roles in Crack Den, both as a former gang and business lead. I also have past experience as both an admin and storyteller on other sims. I understand the difference between IC and OOC responsibilities, and how to balance them with a busy RL.

 

IDEAS: Matthew already has a few ideas in the works. He has floated the idea to members of a few gangs that he would be willing to "employ" individuals who have slighted their organization as the new "maids" of his motel, creating a humiliation ritual of sorts. Another idea was to start an amateur porn studio out of one of the rooms, featuring "realistic" interactions from the streets of Hathian. Both of these ideas have potential to provide new roles to new and old players alike. Currently it is known on the down low that Matthew is willing to to rent out rooms to individuals for extended periods of time, no questions asked, provided they are on good business terms with himself and other motel associates.

 

OTHER: Putting emphasis on finding new staff and guests alike, I intend to do a week long grand re-opening, offering discounted prices on rooms, and financial bonuses for those willing to sign on as staff. Once a player base has been established, it's my hope to organize a block party to celebrate a successful revival! I suck at checking the forums, and discord, but I do my best.
